As much as I like Frazetta, he's practically unknown outside of sci-fi and comics.

 

Agreed. Seriously, more art scholars probably know James Bama, if only for his western paintings. I'm not saying it's right, but Frazetta is niched as a commercial fantasy artist and will never have the respect of a "real" artist.

 

Not true. Frank has been inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame a few years back. Since I live a few miles from him (and a member of the Society) They asked me to bring their "Hall of Fame Drum" which has the signatures of past inductees, for Frank to sign.

 

Unfortunately Ellie refused to let me meet Frank (even though I had my visit pre arranged by his son). She just took the drum top up to him while I waited in the parking lot. frown.gif
