(226) Slight 1/2" split/tear on the squarebound part of the spine, probably made during production.

 

 

 

(227) Tiny, tiny hole on the back cover cause by the bottom staple.

Oh, didn't really see the tear the first time around. I'll lower my grade from a 9.4 to an 8.5.

It's an inapproriate use of the word in the context used. Period.

 

It could be a slight tear, or a 1/2" tear, but not a slight 1/2" tear . . . Ask the Department of Redundancy Department

what would you grade the 226? That tear hurts the technical grade a lot! Your right 7.5 might be overboard on that one! What do you think 8.5? It definitely has the appeal of a NM gem but 9.0 or better seems a little high on a book with such a defect!

I totally agree on the condition details. I ofter peruse the posts in this forum and have no clue how some people arrived at their grades.

Not dirty, but ugly, messy, rough, traumatic, etc.
