We would like to thank all the fans, guests and exhibitors for making the 2nd Annual Toronto Comicon a HUGE success...

We had a record attendance for this event, with over 3,910 fans in 1 day... This is a 14% increase from 2005.

The buzz was great, and the guests were very happy with their Canadian fans, complementing them on their politeness...

The 3rd Annual Toronto Comicon Free Event will return in 2007 even bigger and better...

We look forward to seeing all of you at the Canadian National Comic Book Expo, Sept 1-3/06.

Is it actually going to be free? Or will it still cost $10 to get in. Or will it be more expensive now that you are doing it for 2 days?

Better business bureau Business ethics report:

"Free"

The word "free" may be used in advertising whenever the advertiser is offering an unconditional gift. If receipt of the "free" merchandise or service is conditional on a purchase: the advertiser must disclose this condition clearly and conspicuously together with the "free" offer (not by placing an asterisk or symbol next to "free" and referring to the condition(s) in a footnote);

the normal price of the merchandise or service to be purchased must not have been increased nor its quantity or quality reduced; and the "free" offer must be temporary; otherwise, it would become a continuous combination offer, no part of which is free.

In a negotiated sale no "free" offer of another product or service should be made where: the product or service to be purchased usually is sold at a price arrived at through bargaining, rather than at a regular price; or there may be a regular price but other material factors such as quantity, quality or size are arrived at through bargaining.

Better Business Bureau's Basic Principles of Advertising

1. The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or the Better Business Bureau.

2. Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.

3. An advertisement as a whole may be misleading although every sentence separately considered is literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

27_laughing.gif You know I've never visited this thread before.....

So this is where that snake oil - extortionist 893censored-thumb.gif head of a promoter who has basically tried every under handed trick in the book to sabotage the Paradise show posts his tripe.

So let me get this straight

- there's the Free Coupon to get in that cost $10 cause it can only be obtained at retailers after buying $10 worth of goods.

- then there's the HUGE guest who never showed, but will be attending the summer con, but you can't announce cause you havent sealed the deal yet.

- And my favorite: there are like what 5 Million people in the GTA and you can't amicably exist in a 2-con per year environment.

news.gif Here's a clue..... your a schmuck makepoint.gif
