That's too bad. I guess it's not a whole lot better then Iowa, there's maybe 5 comic shops in the state. The only 2 worth going to are in Iowa City within 1 block of each other.

I bought a couple very nice raw ASMs (91, 96, 122) from a shop on/in El Camino Real. Don't recall the name though. frown.gif

El Camino Real in Mountain View / Palo Alto (Silicon Valley area)? That would probably have been Lee's Comics, although there's a thread somewhere on here that mentioned he had changed locations recently. He also had some nice condition Silver Age DCs (un-slabbed of course, this would have been 1999).

Ebay has replaced the Comic Shop that I used to love when I was a kid. The "COMIC WALL" was just amazing.It was the only place that you could go to buy back issues of your favourite character. For the most part.....the COMIC WALL is dead. It has been replaced by AUCTION SITES. Let's face it; why would you put HG "raw" comics on the wall of your store, when you could "slab" them, and put them on Ebay? The traditional COMIC SHOP is virtually extinct. It's kind of ironic......"COMIC SHOP" that is..... smirk.gif

Sadly I still have comic shops that display their "high $$$" stuff on the walls. I've never understood that idea, all that light has to fade them after a while..

My local shop has had an X-men 94 under flourescent light in his display case for over 2 yrs. Front cover has turned a nice shade of dingey yellow. 893frustrated.gifHe raises the retail price every yr, then says u can have 30% off if u pay cash.

I think I bought that CGC 4.0 copy for $35 or so awhile back. grin.gif

 

Simply perfect structurally, pristine back cover, but front is noticeably faded. Guaranteed NM, unread "wall copy" that stayed there a few years too long.

 

Then again, a VG 4.0 is really stretching it, and I may resub it for laughs someday.

Nah, you're still a legend, but you need some more 9.8 Keys to keep the title.

 

Marvels are all tapped save for a few non-keys. But...wait until the DCs get graded! blush.gif

Well, I signed up about 3 years ago.. it was some "dealer" on a newsgroup who was selling bargain basement type subscriptions in order to get more customers. I said sure, signed up for 4 titles and they've been coming since. I haven't heard anything since.
