Tape or Tape Removal-- Restoration or Grading consideration

25 posts in this topic

I have a question about the damage to a GA book with (nonarchival) tape on it. What happens to the book over time if the tape isn't removed? Is it better to just keep it there, or go for it and remove it?

The glue from the tape as well as the tape itself can leave behind various residual stains.

Not good.

Getting tape OFF a comic safely is a pretty good rule to follow normally as it will only break down, become brittle and harder to remove as time goes by.

But once removed , that leaves you with the issue of why the tape was there in the first place.

Theagenes, I think you're looking at something more than the $200 you mention.

But Matt & Sue are both very nice & very helpful, so either can provide you with a better ballpark estimate, esp. as you've already done the prep with images.

Good luck!
