27 posts in this topic

This book is being offered first to Forumites before it goes up on my website and ebay store. It will be exclusively available here for one week. Thus, this offer expires Thursday, December 7, 2006.

This is a beautiful book! Fantastic Schomburg cover. Great PQ. It is the second highest certified copy. There is one copy at 9.4.

PRICE: $2,500.00. Overstreet Guide Value NM- 9.2 = $1,600.

SHIPPING: Free via USPS Priority Mail (other services available if desired)

PAYMENT OPTIONS: Paypal, personal check (must clear first), bank check, money order

Comparable sales data: Issues #67 - #78 are all at the same guide price.

Metropolis has a #70 CGC 9.2 for sale at $2,500 (they also have a #87 CGC 9.2, which also guides the same, at $2,720 and that book has lower PQ).

Comiclink has a #71 CGC 9.2 offered at $3,950.

FYI, this specific copy sold for $1,897.50 in August 2005 and I purchased it for a steal at $1,798.93 in August 2006. 1511582-MM76.jpg

So your saying in the open market this book went down in value? tongue.gif

At least on that day it did! wink.gif

Actually I am not surprised because I purchased it through the Mastro auction which was not widely known. That means the competition was not as significant and many of the comic books went for less than they should have. The auction was also, as I recall, at the end of August when most people were away on vacation.

Anyway, once I sell it to someone the open market value will go up back where it should be! yay.gifheadbang.gif

It's a great book, but everyone has their current buying targets...I'm sure someone will snap it up.

Kinda suprised this hasn't sold. Price is not ridiculous, 60+ year old book in fantastic condition.

Where are all those GA fan/collectors popcorn.gif

hi.gif

However, I have enough on my plate already collecting high grade Timely Subbys....adding HG Marvel Mysterys to my collection at this point would just send me on a one-way trip to the Po' House.

Great book but strong price. (Not undeserving, but just a tad strong, at least for this venue).

Good luck with it Mark. thumbsup2.gif

If you're suggesting there isn't enough money floating around in the GA field to snap up every great book within a few days of listing, you're probably right (especially, if its offered here on the Forums...otherwise known as 'Cheapskate Village.')

But I don't think the result would be much different if you put up a FF # 48 in 9.6 or a ASM # 129 in 9.6 with top dollar asking prices.

This isn't the right venue for this book. And like with 80% of golden age, it takes a little time to find the right buyer.

Well, it does require an "end of the line" buyer, as it is fully valued. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
