Collecting or investing?

I'm a collector first, reader second, and investor third. I read most of what I buy, but I spend more time collecting than reading; I whiz through most comics in 10-15 minutes or less, unless the art is particularly striking.

I would much rather watch a superhero movie than read a superhero comic book. As acting gets better, as video cameras get better and cheaper, and as computer graphics get cheaper, however, I can see a time in the future--hopefully no more than 30-50 years from now--when paper comics are made totally obsolete by cheaper moviemaking that allows more people to produce a larger volume of films than is possible today.

If there were a monthly Spider-Man movie, who would buy the comics to read them? Not many people.
