Is this a Scam? Really looks Phishy...

6 posts in this topic

This site seems to have done very well since the last time it was brought up here - as a sign of the impending high grade crash.

They appear to have sold enough shares to fund buying the following books:

Amazing Spider-Man #129 9.6

Amazing Spider-Man #300 9.8

Astonishing X-Men #1 Director Cut 10.0

Avengers Annual #10 9.8

Giant-Size X-Men #1 9.6

Incredible Hulk #181 9.6

Marvel Spotlight #5 9.4

Spider-Man #1 Signature Series 9.9

Superman #75 Poly-Bagged 9.8

Ultimate Spider-Man #1 Variant Cover 9.8

Some of the shares even appear to have sold aftermarket for above their IPO prices.

The only thing for sure is that the guys running the site cannot lose, like the house cannot lose at a casino or the NYSE can't lose no matter which way the stocks go.

Hey, the portfolio has a registry entry: http://www.collectors-society.com/Home.aspx?PeopleID=29557

I had noticed his registry entry after I posted this, and I do agree that I do not see a way he could lose, but it all comes down to kinda putting a book on lay-away. Personally I prefer the book in my hands, and what would stop him from having his own Shills in the mix? I guess he makes a good case when reading his site (it looks good on paper), so I can't really 'dis him.

For now, I may just observe, and If I feel really gullible, I may just go deeper... I hope some others comment on this as well.

Thanks

It comes down to the books not belonging to you, the collector, but an organization. Reminds me of a time share that you never see because it's always booked up. You will never hold that book you own a "share" in. Save your money and buy your own! Just my opinion...... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

What next, what next?? Shares of a grape vine? Betting on the weather in Canada? Shares of a moth ball farm in Roanoke, VA? What next?

I speculate all day, lifes like that. Now I need to give a guy 8.00 to buy a share of an X-Men # 1. Hopefully I get 9.00 or 11.00 back one day? Nope, not for me right now. I need to see it evolve before I jump in.
