gino2paulus2
Well done; they're great. They look like floating mantlepieces. Thank you kind sir...Just in case anyone was wondering all of those boards are really inexpensive so this whole look can easily be achieved without breaking the bank as well!!! I would love to someday get my hands on some of those classic Sandman Covers!!! I know #40 is probably out of reach for me at this time, but would be so psyched if I could find the right copy of #42, 44, 46, 47, 51, or 60 for my collection!!!!!! And that Amazing Fantasy #15 is spectacular IMG_3635 by gino2paulus2, on Flickr P.S If you have a second and are into this cover it doesnt get much cooler that this. Colicab
Great room, how did you do the display shelves? That look awesome Thanks a lot guys I appreciate it ...Actually it was relatively easy and not even that time consuming. I do not fancy myself to be much of a ,"handy" man and I was able to pull it off no problem. I basically made a plan of how many shelves I wanted knowing first that I wanted a minimum of 4.5 ft off the ground for the first shelf (I have a 2 year old daughter and anyone with children knows how curious they can be hehe!!!) I do have 9 foot ceilings in my house so that gave me a little extra height to work with, especially since the CGC's are the books I wanted to display and they are a bit taller than your normal bagged and boarded book. As for the shelves themselves I pretty much just went to home depot originally looking for a crown type of molding that wasnt too bulky because if you are putting a book up that high you wouldnt be able to see the bottom of it. I also wanted it big enough that I wouldnt have to worrry about them sliding off. Anyways, I did not find anything that fit the bill so I decided to construct my own. I wanted them to look like ,"floating" shelves and I wanted them to be super sturdy so I chose a brick mould for the base. I will attach a photo of the mould that I chose from home depot. You just tell them how long and they will cut it for you in the store. IMG_2419 by gino2paulus2, on Flickr[/img] The regular base board that would normally go around the bottom of your walls and around your doors and stuff has tiny grooves in it so the books can rest against them IMG_3680 by gino2paulus2, on Flickr Once everything was properly secured (don't forget to hit those studs when securing the brick mould to the wall!!!) I just filled in all the screw holes with a regular wood filler, waited for it to dry, sanded it down a tad, and painted the finished product white. The stuff that I chose was already prepped white so it was not that daunting a task. Once you are done you can see it all looks like one piece that is just hanging on its own ready for your comics to display. IMG_3681 by gino2paulus2, on Flickr Thanks for looking and enjoying!!!! Fantastic! This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. I will update my office/comic room photo's after I get this installed. Probably June.
