BangZoom
A little later, 1959, but a nice cover from a series of creepy books edited by Basil Davenport. These were offered in the Back of Famous Monsters in the early issues. Terrific paperbacks. I've never heard of this series. What authors are included in this book? shiverbones
Inside is W.F. Harvey, Saki, John Collier, Lord Dunsany, Margaret Irwin, & Stephen Hall. The other 2 I know of off hand are Deals with the Devil & The Graveyard Reader.
shiverbones
3 more came in today. This is a great hybrid of pulps turning into paperbacks. This is made of pulpwood, is stapled like a pulp, and while smaller than a pulp, is larger than the average digest. The cover is by Norman Saunders, it was printed in 1942
shiverbones
The Avon Ghost Reader from 1946. I love the style of painting, it reminds me of a 1920's illustration. Edited September 3, 2009 by shiverbones

PokerKid
When in high school in the 1980s, I worked at a pretty good local used book store. I loved the incredible covers that came through there. However, they were few and far between. The books here have a nice variety, but I'm loving them all. october
These are fantastic. What's the price point? Expensive? I would love to pick up a few.
shiverbones
I paid about $12 each for the two I posted. Unless it's an in demand author, super desirable subject matter or super rare they rarely cost more than $20. The 2 lovecraft books I posted are generally a bit higher, $25ish on Dunwhich horror and $35-$45ish on Weird Shadow.
