Would it be the Big Little Book, Donald Duck & the Green Serpent, which reprinted Barks' story "The Terror of the River" (from Four Color #108)? It may be his first book but it still isn't signed by Barks...and Ghost Morgan's Treasure was published before Green Serpent, I think. The radio broadcasts didn't retell newspaper strip stories and the Phantom Ship was the only DT Big Little Book based on a radio broadcast, making it rather unique.
