... me either? He's been most difficult to reach of late... I can attest to personally.

Over a month ago he claimed to be having some personal/family/paypal/financial complications that further delayed the conclusion of a "done deal" we've had in and out of limbo for almost 2 months now. Poor fellow seems to have more than his fair share of various problems and bad luck that causes him to be unavailable to answer contact attempts for extended periods... or conclude deals.

I noticed he was selling a bunch of stuff on eBay about 3 weeks ago (over $10k's worth) that appeared to me to be an effort to finally obtain funds to allow us to complete our deal. I emailed him again, since I had not heard anything for awhile, and did hear back from him that time. He indicated that "in worst case scenario" he would be able to complete our deal shortly after his auctions ended. Its been about 3 weeks since they ended and I have not heard anything after several email attempts (nor received any promised payments)???

I would be interested in hearing if anyone has been in contact with him myself. I know a dealer that is even more anxious to hear from him as well. I hope whatever is going on is nothing serious... so we can finally wrap this deal up.

How so? confused.gif

Do you have a deal in limbo with him?

I'm not gonna dreg up the past, but there are plenty of old posts detailing his problems in the past. Maybe someone else can enlighten you.

I don't see how he can take so long in responding,You get books/Cash or whatever and then send them to the buyer...it's simple but yet he makes it into a project. I 've got my horror story with him,and pretty recently I have heard of another from a fellow member. Kevin

Bruce,

I've been hearing this from various people for over 2 years now....I personally have never dealt with him because of these ongoing situations. - It's always something.....

I just dealt with him, and exchanged a few emails back and forth 2-3 weeks ago.

Nor do I frankly 893scratchchin-thumb.gif I don't get that a little bit??

The other comments posted on this thread and the several I received via PM are not very reassuring.

In my interactions with Matt thus far I couldn't help but recognize a rather clear pattern, especially when an important juncture in a deal approaches, or is reached. Then there often is an unexpected "Extended Communication Blackout" (explained at some point later as caused by various personal troubles, email problems, etc. or sometimes without explanation). I also find it puzzling that after a long communication gap, I receive a single email offering a suggestion/solution that he does not follow up on and explore, even if you're agreeable and respond within minutes (and several times afterwards over the following days/week(s)?... which in essence extends the blackout and leaves you with no clear understanding of what's going on.

I'm really trying hard to be open-minded and not jump to conclusions even still, but I'm frustrated... I know all to well that life can get rough and everyone needs a "little" time to disconnect if they are in genuine distress, but I feel you have to make efforts regardless (in most cases) when your word is given. I feel stronger about this particularly in instances when others are making serious efforts and/or sacrifices on your behalf. You simply can't leave them hanging repeatedly or have them suffer loss or undue stress because of your various predicaments. I already have on this deal, yet I've remained courteous, patient, and flexible to solution throughout the various twists and turns with little result.

Hopefully, he'll surface soon and resolve this... I do want this all to work out OK.

Interaction(s)? So this kind of thing has happened before? And if so, I'd very much like to know about it, as he is someone who tends to have books I'm interested in.

Andrew, Stay away from him..I have my own horror story with him myself,I just got a PM a few weeks ago from a guy who wanted to get a certain TOS 39 9.0 off of him, deal turned sour and like a month of not responding to his emails,he gets his books returned back to him..I was just wondering if Matt skipped town or he stopped posting on the boards.

Yes actually ... I've already had a very "trying" experience with Matt once before about 8 months ago or so that I'm not going to bring up in detail at this point. In any event, I forgave (which was not easy) and decided to try to work with him again 2 months back after receiving what I took as an apology (or regret) for his past actions concerning our first "non-deal". I was reluctant though because I heard of more reasons to be wary since then. Matt assured me much of his troubles in the past were a combination of bad luck, a few bad decisions and also made worse via a comic rumor mill full of misinformation put forth by forces that have it in for him. I prefer to give people an opportunity (or two) to prove themselves before arriving at a definitive conclusion... unless I'm totally convinced they are bad news... which I'm not, but am admittedly struggling with the idea now.

Anyway, when he contacted me again and acknowledged he should have handled the first deal differently/better, I did not want to hold the grudge any longer and welcomed the thought of putting the bad experience behind us. He also seemed to have a "genuine collectors desire" for the book in out current deal... which I relate to in a big way. Equally important, he gave several rock-solid, firm commitments to me (another as recently as 3 weeks ago)... so I said yes, even though I did not need to sell to him. I passed up a sure, instant payment offer for the same book from another board member I had no history with at that time (but do now). I wanted to show Matt there was no hard feelings and I'd trust him again and would go out of my way to help him acquire the book he really wanted.

What was your personal "horror story"? PM if you want to talk about it. I'm curious...

I see you won one of his ebay items. The fact that you've been in recent/multiple contact with him bothers me. That means he's been around and received my messages and is avoiding/stalling/blackout extending me again... which I suspected.

I woudn't worry too much about getting your book... global express is not guranteed to arrive within the estimate given... and I was told it can be up to and over 5 business days. Its also pretty clear Matt follows through with his eBay auctions, although I have heard from a couple who experienced difficulties when buying ungraded books and wanted a return... one is a respected forum member who waited 4 months before receiving any satisfaction.

I have no explanation and can't understand why Matt does not maintain communications nor follow through similarly with private transactions. It seems there is almost always a lengthy drawn out process full off blackout periods (and problems) that often ends unfavorably for the other party somehow... judging from my experiences, the others posted here, and those PM'd to me.

Matt has taken off for California to through his hat in the ring and run for Vice-Governor on his old pal and ex-training partner's ticket, Arnold.

I guess he figured, "Hey..actors, pornographers, bimbos, why not a High Grade Silver age guy?".

I wager that he'll be back soon enough to answer all false charges levied against him.
