Is erasure any less bad than trimming or color touch?

Garth, to be clear are you saying you would like to see every book that has had some type of ink loss due to being erased to hard either by a kid, or a pro in a purple label?

 

Trimming is not labeled as restored, nor should erasure. CT is an attempt to restore or return the book to its previous conditon by adding to it. Erasings inks off the cover is only damaging the book, and is easily seen afterwards.

 

Sure one can argue that a date, or sig was removed to enhance the books appearence. But unless it was done on a white only area you will probably still see it , and most times there will be ink loss too. To me that is not the point of what restoration or the purple label are about.

 

Sure it should be noted on the label but the book is not restored, just damaged imho.
