Is signature required worth it?

There is nothing more exhilarating than coming home and seeing a package sitting there waiting for you. When I first started purchasing through e-Bay, heritage, and ComicLink I loved the anticipation of the package coming my way. I would check on-line and see when it would arrive. Working overnights makes it easier to get my packages right away rather than waiting to get home from work and hoping it will be there waiting for me. On occasion I am too tired and fall asleep and can?t wait to open the door and have the package that was leaning against my door fall into the apartment. Twice I had the package state it was delivered through delivery confirmation and it wasn?t.

I had two books scheduled today for delivery and I knew I wouldn't be there to accept them. One was being delivered today through Fed-ex (which I knew would not leave it behind) and the other was through the dreaded USPS. I say dreaded because they lost two of my packages. I called the Post Office to make sure they did not drop it off because being that I waited about 20 years to purchase a Daredevil #1 I did not want them to lose this particular issue. They changed it from delivery confirmed to Signature confirmed. Sure, I have to wait a day longer but I know that I will get it.

I still remember the three issues I never received and am still upset about it. It felt like throwing away money. At times I wonder where they are (I even have a customer at night tell me that the books will still get to me) and have done all I can to make sure it never happens again. I don?t pay more than what I think a comic book is worth and I have realized that paying a bit more for a signature is well worth the wait.

Thanks for reading.
