My First 9.9? Pt 2
I can't wait till I can write about my second 9.9....or did I already?
I was happy winning my New Mutants #1 in a 9.9 (ecstatic even). However, I have to tell you I lied (unintentionally). It wasn?t my first 9.9. My first one of that grade was a copy of New Mutants #5 by PGX. There are a few out there by this 3rd party grading but the price of this one at the time was only $45. As everyone knows who has been reading my journals I am trying to complete this series in 9.8 white pages or better. So I decided to purchase this and bring it to Wizard World Philadelphia to get graded by CGC. Although I hoped it would achieve the same grade, it didn?t. They graded it a 9.8.
Months passed and Bagofleas let me know about a copy of New Mutants #1 in the elusive grade of 9.9. I entered the bidding and won. I even documented how this came about. After I won another copy appeared, this time on e-bay. The starting bid was $99.99. I was shocked. The price was slow, but wouldn?t it sell for the same amount I bought mine for. Did I want a second one if I could get it for that starting price? I decided to just watch. The book only went for $140.00. less than for what I paid for.
Although it was cheaper I had no idea it would be on the market, Comicconnect.com even got me my auctioned item within three days (the quickest I ever got an item). I am happy I have the book, and I did not bid more that I wanted to, in fact I bid less than I planned, but as they say hindsight is 20/20. If I knew I would have waited, but if I waited who knows.
Thanks for Reading
