My First Snipe

I want it, it's mine, you can't have it, so there.

I don?t like sniping, mainly because it doesn?t do anything you can?t do yourself. There are a few sites that can do this for you, some charge and some don?t. I believe winning an auction comes down to how much you want to pay. If you have the time and the money, there is a good chance you are going to win. If someone wants to place a ?snipe? bid at a lesser amount compared to your bid the person who was trying to swindle the item from you is still going to lose.

On this particular day, a Friday in fact, the auction was ending when I was to be at work. Also since it was a Friday I would have been there already for seven hours and bringing my computer was not an option. The two books up for bid were The New Mutants #89 and #92. Both were in a 9.8 white pages condition. I heard of sniping before but never truly thought about it until a reader of my journals recommended a site that does this. Thank you to that reader.

I could have done this the morning I had to go to work but I didn?t want to give anyone the chance to look and see that someone wanted those items and decided that they wanted them more. I joined a snipe site that starts you out by giving you three free snipes. I only needed two. I added my maximum bids and hoped for the best. After I knew the auctions to be over I checked my e-mail using my hands free device (I know I sound pompous) and found the good news waiting, I won them both.

I don?t know if I will ever snipe again, most likely I will just wait till the final seconds to bid, but it was a useful tool while I was at work.

Thanks for reading
