San Diego Comic Con 2013 part 2

So two months ago I wrote part 1 of this entry. Now it's time to tell you what I did there.

So quite literally in two weeks before comic con I got tickets, bought plane tickets, and found a place to stay. It was a hard task but the way I looked at it if everything fell into place - I was destined to go and do what I had only dreamed of doing.

My entire goal of going to comic con this year was to get signatures on some prime books. I took with me two copies of Batman (2011) #1 sketch cover. I already had a cgc ss 9.8 grade on both with Scott Snyder sigs on both. I also took a #1 fifth print cgc ss 9.8 grade with Snyder sig on it as well.

To round out my need to have signed books - I took with me seven Crisis on Infinite Earths books I had in my in hand that didn't have signatures on them.

#3, #4, #5, #6, #9, #10, and #11. All were already graded at 9.8 and the #4 had already been ss with George Perez's sig.

So the goal was simple George Perez and Marv Wolfman were both attending, now all I had to do was the whole SS route with a CGC witness and everything.

I was able to accomplish it in one day and like I said in part one, I highly commend all the individuals that worked the CGC booth the whole time I was there. No only did they come with me for not one, not two, but three treks through the con to get all my signatures.

Fait accompli!!!

CGC took my books, took my money (which I gave willingly and gladly and for the price and also the price was extremely reasonable for what I did) and then the waiting period began. With the backlog of books from the con, the scheduled wait time was three months. For the first month I watched for my invoice to convert from received to the next step...

Fast forward - month #2 - books went from step to step and after spending one week under quality control I got the coveted email that the books were on the way back to me. Now granted all books had been previously graded at 9.8 so I was 65% sure that the grades would be okay even after all the handling that was done to get them all signed... and as the picture shows these are my results.

80% happy with the results and the other 20% is reserved for something I have planned for the two books that didn't make the 9.8 cut...

Now I get to add them to my registry and if it goes like I think it will I completely apologize to the #1 spot.

I didn't do it on purpose, but I did do it.

On a side note - I still need Batman #1 third print and fourth print both in 9.8, so if you have them or an extra copy I am in the market for them.

anyway thanks for reading and as always enjoy the experience of collecting, because it is for enjoyment, at least for me it is and if you can get to a #1 spot, congratulations!
