Don't you just hate it when . . .

You submit a sequentially numbered set of books to be graded, whether they're a run from a series or all from a self-contained miniseries, and they all come back with the same grade . . . except 1?!And that one just happens to be in the middle of the set, sending your OCD into Overdrive?!

This happened to me recently when I submitted the 5 Variant Cover books of the Marvel Miniseries 5 Ronin.

I did my best examination to make sure they were 9.8 worthy, packed them up and sent them off.

After a few months, when I see that the grades are available, I get that mixed feeling of excitement and dread.

I wanna see the grades, but I don't wanna see the grades, ya know?

I click the link and scroll down the list till I see the titles.

#1 - 9.8 woohoo!

#2 - 9.8 yeah!

#3 - 9.6 hunh?

#4 - 9.8 yay, but ?? on #3

#5 - 9.8 great, but wtf on #3?

I look at the grades again, just to be sure.

There's numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 all with 9.8.

And that #3 with a 9.6.

Yep, I wasn't imagining things, that's a 9.6.

Right. In. The. Middle. Of. The. Set.

sonofa. . .

I know it's dumb, but I think I'd have been happier if it was the first, or the last, or if they had all come back 9.6.

It's just something about it being the oddball right in the middle. . . arrrghh . . . like an itch I can't scratch!

So now to CPR or hunt down a new copy?

Decisions, decisions . . .
