Three's Company

I look back on my hobby as three distinct phases.

Phase 1 - 1985-1997 (age 10-22). I collected anything and everything I could find and afford. My comic book budget was funded by chores and money I saved from birthdays and Christmases. I grew up in southern New Mexico and sometime in the future I may talk about regional scarcity. There were slim pickens but I did alright.

Phase 2 - 2003-2012. I returned to the hobby and bought moderns but also focused on older, mainly Bronze Age keys. By the end of this era I dumped about 75% of my collection which once numbered probably 7-8K books.

Phase 3 - 2019-present. I can't really afford anything so I play with and enjoy what I have.

The comic books on display break down like this: about 2/3 are from my childhood and teen years; the majority of what's left are from my thirties; since returning to the hobby I've bought about 150 books and they're somewhat underrepresented in what's displayed.

Anyways, here's more comics.

Great stuff! I recently picked up a HG Peter Parker #101 myself -- a rare foray back to Copper Age for me. ;)  A quite cool and underrated cover.

I was surprised a few weeks ago to find my LCS selling a 9.2 (raw - their grade) for $120. The cover is a now-classic; the interior not much so. I have FF 276 in the same bag as this issue behind the backing board. The Alpha Flight issue is long gone.
