  1. He's not doing one with CGC but he's got one with ClanMcDonaldComics coming in December. Nov 30th cutoff. They use CBCS for grading but you can opt to get sigs with COA's and then send to CGC for grading. That's my plan.
  2. Ebay... this is the way I think there's an "unofficial" CGC store selling them. They are the same bags.
  3. I got my XFactor #6 in the mail yesterday and XFactor #1 should be delivered tomorrow. I've got another at Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging, and one sitting at Scheduled for Grading. The last 3 all got pressed so, it's looking like once they get to pressing they all got separated. Which is fine, I guess but, the timing got all sorts of off with each book. Sadly the one book I didn't get pressed, the #6 that I thought didn't need a pressing, needed a pressing and only got a 9.2 with "spine stress lines". There was nothing color breaking so, a press should help and boost the book to perhaps a 9.6. The #1 scored a 9.6 with a pressing so, I'm happy about that.
  4. It finally happened. My books have moved to the grading process. Well, correction. 2 of my 4 books have moved to grading. The other 2, may be getting pressed. I thought perhaps 2 of the books were waiting for Louise's signature as I didn't see her name on the guest list for Terrificon (where the signing happened) but, Louise's signature should be on the 2 books that were moved to grading. So, I can only assume she already signed them or was actually at Terrificon. Who knows at this point. All I know is that 2 of my 4 comics I sent in have been moved to the grading process. This particular signing event has happened finally.
  5. Thanks very much for the detail on what you're marking down for. Spine ticks I'm guessing are the major factor driving the grade down. It's tough gauging how much to take off for them though. Probably depends more on how many and how severe they are which is subjective. I'm guessing marking down .75-1 just for these particular ticks.
  6. Right, once I took the pictures to post and was able to zoom in, I was able to see the spine ticks downgrading the book. I'm 50 and apparently my eyesight needs help when trying to see things up close.
  7. Colors and corners look good. Some spine ticks though. I'm thinking 9.2? Trying to get a handle on how spine ticks downgrade a book. Thanks for grades on this.
  8. I've been going through my collection pulling out books to send to CGC and found this one in my Punisher appearances section. Book is otherwise in fantastic condition however when I was putting it in a new boarded bag discovered this crease in the cover. I have never read this book and have never taken it out of the bag since I picked it up in the late 80s. It looks to be a factory defect. The cover page is still aligned with the bottom and sides. My question, does this hurt the value? And is it still worth sending in for grading?
  9. This crease!!! I don't think it's a candidate for pressing. Something happened during the printing process to produce this. It's probably a 9.6-9.8 otherwise. Thoughts??? edit*** added more pics for grading purposes edit 2*** I now see the spine ticks. Thinking a pressing would take care of those. Just not sure it's worth it with that crease.
  10. Poor timing on the JSA acquisition. I didn't bother with signing up for an autograph session since I had no way of authenticating and getting a CGS Signature Series grade to my comic. JSA is at this comic con and can authenticate as well as Captured Collectibles for the "other" comic grading service. With CGC now working with JSA, there will be a method to get a signed comic graded with a JSA authentication. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for CGS to host a Hayden signing event or him to show up again at this con.
  11. Hayden Christensen is going to be there and am wanting to get a commissioned sketch comic signed by him and then CGC graded/slabbed but, this doesn't sound like it's going to be possible with no CGC representation.
  12. Hi folks, Wanted to post my experience here. I've been lurking in the thread for a few months to gauge how things might go with my submissions(6 books total). I submitted 6 books for the Lucio Parrillo signature event. I purchased all my books from ebay as sets (regular version plus virgin version) which can be dicey as to what quality books you get but, I tried to stick with sets that showed the actual books being sold and had HQ pics. Everything I received looked pristine to me and the books were handled with extreme care with gloves on for examining and packaging purposes only(never read). I purchased CGC's window bags and used those. I know others used their own method derived from another thread in the forum but, I just stuck with CGC's. Reading all the horror stories of folks sending in what they thought were 9.8 comics or 9.8 reslabs and getting downgraded to 9.6 or lower had me nervous. To my great surprise, all of my books scored 9.8s. I was prepared for half to score 9.8s so, I am ecstatic with what I got. I'm hoping that the comments I read of bad experiences are just outside the norm and the vast majority work out like my first experience, and the books get graded appropriately without handling damage from CGC's staff. At a minimum, perhaps my experience can give people hope that you can actually submit books and have a great experience. It is possible!!! Total file size limited the slabs I'm posting to 5
