posted in the general section, but this is where it belongs
oh yeah, this is what is replaced:
if you think it doesnt look so bad, the cover is detached and it has my 11 year old attempt at color touch as well!
that's a nice 8.5. sweet upgrade, tho i think the second book could be a pgx 8.5

Here is another one from the OO collection I have been buying from.
it's time to start a mid semester selling thread
-
There was at least one JLA in the Heritage auction that I was really targeting, but I'm sad to say I will not have anything to share in this thread.
Anyone else win anything?
0 for 16- underbidder on two stinking books. i can't hang w/ whoever- flash #136!! dear lord.

Sweet copy, Mike! Without question the most nicely centered copy I have ever seen. Looks nicer than any of the 9.4 copies I've seen on sale, and doesn't have the annoying miswrap that most of them seem to have. What's knocking it down to a 9.2?
i pizz on 9.4's. i told them i wanted the world's only 9.2. i think the scan makes the book look even better then it is- i'm going to have to have it in hand to point out the minor things that may have knocked it down. i thought it was a 9.2.

oy papi!! i guess i'll have to be content w/ my lowly 9.2 purchased at less than 1/10th the price.
Wow! That is a huge price, particularly considering the fugly miswrap on that copy.
Beautiful #12!!
I think this is a nicer copy.
too lazy to check the census- how rare is this book in 9.4? know it was in a DC 3 pak- an early one mind you but those books are typically easier to find in grade. well, maybe not so much- only two of them and nothing higher. i guess that quasi explains the price.
Yup, surprisingly scarce in NM. The only slabbed 9.4 copies so far are the one I just posted (no longer owned by me) and the miswrapped one that just sold on Pedigree.
spunkydo has to be happy w/ what he paid after this sale.

So no one cares that I found eight Green Rivers that had arrival dates other than Tuesday or Thursday!!??
You know I do all my research for YOU guys! Show some interest!
why monday? i'd have thought w/ holidays you might find date stamps one day later not earlier.

only good thing about this one is that it's mine. someone please post the laughing fish cover.

Is that slab damage to the lower corner?
nah, superbaby just took his baby booty to it.

Here's one of the nice early JLA's...wish it didn't have writing on the cover
I`ve noticed that several of the early SA DCs in the "Fantastic Frank" collection have heavy grease pencil writing on the covers. I guess he picked up those books from the same collection.
Rick, that kind of writing on the cover bothers the hell out of you, right?
the atom #2 in the CLINK auction has something similar- i remember first seeing that book when Ed Jaster owned it. there were several Fantastic Frank Actions in a Sunday auction that had the grease pencil as well. Personally, i won't bid on them- they're uglier than sin.

I just checked the JLA Registry Set and I have been bumped down to #6
Nice Mike (thumbs u
thanks. was going to wait til i had jonnydouble beat but i'm not getting any of my raw peds slabbed anytime soon so...
-
kudos to foolkiller for purchasing a slaberoo
-
Nice one TTH. I'll add my recent pick-up from this weekend:
shaggy man!! hard to believe the JLA survived that one.
-
I don't think I've posted this one before.
sweet- looks almost as nice as my 9.2
-
I don't think he meant that comment the way it is being received.
Then why not explain your perception.
My perception is that he is calling Arthur an insufficiently_thoughtful_person for paying too much for this book (that he has been searching for for 8 years).
Greggy does not even have a 9.4 of this book.
would've been tough to find a slabbed 9.4 eight years ago .
don't see why the price paid should be criticized until the next copy comes along and it sells for a drastically different amount- if that were even to happen.
-
the #25 for me. actually a bit surprised i won that book. 9.2's get no love. i was the underbidder on the #38 which is a good thing since i picked one up on clink for about the same price.
-
What are your minimum grade requirements for your JLA collection?
For me, #1-50 in at least CGC 9.0 or better
#51-100 in at least CGC 9.4 or better
#101-200 (if I decide to collect them) in at least CGC 9.6 or better
1-29 9.2 or better
30-99 9.4 or better
-
please explain the utter lunacy in the clink bidding. thanks
I have no idea Mike
Hopefully this is not a trend, otherwise I will never finish my JLA run
Over the last 3 months, I've picked up a couple JLA's in the 60's in CGC 9.6
for $250-275---I thought I could pick some more up on the Clink auction for around $250-350----winning bids were in the $700's
yes, those prices were mindboggling- it's not like these books don't come up in grade. who pays 2-3x gpa?? i suspect it's talk of the movie but maybe it's something else.
