  1. Ah ,.... common sense would tell me that if I was to do a deal w/ the guy that's in charge of the Probation thread (Divad) , ..that I might want to conduct a smoth transaction . (shrug)(shrug) ............BH

First of all, a smoth transaction is a bit different, like smooth as in a moth which can be a bit dusty. Second, knucklehead, the initial infraction (50 Cent's) was what caused Divad to start the probation thread in the first place. :makepoint: I might be mistaken, though--and if so, someone give me a return :makepoint::sumo:

    Don't worry Noob !.............................. :makepoint:.........................BH

Noob? You ain't exactly a veteran there, Texas lad.

Sorry twit ! , ...I just like the sound of saying "noob" to someone else . In your case though , I'm sure I could come up w/ much better superlatives ....... :/:/.BH

Superlatives. :cloud9: Wait a sec, what the heck is a superlative? :tonofbricks:

  4. I purchased a number of CGC graded books, totally about $4,000 from Silver Age Comics. Each purchase I made from SilverAgeComics was completely random in every sense of the word. They simply happen to have the books I was looking for. When I bought his X-men#1 at NYCC, someone pointed to Gus by name and I turned to him and said, 'Hi, I'm the guy who picked up book XXX from you two weeks ago. Thanks!!" So, thankfully, everything has worked out for me with SilverAgeComics and I have no qualms about buying from them in the future.

As a side note: I do NOT buy RAW books online for a number of reasons. So, I cannot make any claims as to how well SAComics is with RAW books. Slabbed books, I have had ZERO problems.

    -Issa

Well, to each his own Issa, but as far as I am concerned this is about more than just a satisfactory transaction.

Greg Jortner is an absolute fraud. This is indisputable. If there were any question that a reasonable person could differ in opinion about this, I would never have created this thread.

Silver_Age_Comics/Gus continues to do business with Jortner despite unequivocally knowing about the fraudulent misrepresentations and unlawful transactions Jortner has engaged in, some of which were actually under the monocle of Silver_Age_Comics. If Gus' company doesn't have the ethical wherewithal to stop doing business with an individual such as this because financially it behooves them and means more than their reputation, then this is a company I would never ever consider doing business with, and I would hope others would take this into consideration before doing otherwise.

Whether dealer or collector, we complain about the fraud in our hobby, particularly on the Internet, and yet too many people allow the conduct to perpetuate because their individual transaction went smoothly. If we want things to change, if we want fraud minimized, then we need to be above the notion of "I want that book and don't care who is selling it", or "well, they treated me right so I have nothing to complain about."

Otherwise, there is no message sent and people like Gus and Jortner keep trodding along waiting for the next sucker to come along. It might be you one day. I hope not.

    :tonofbricks: Rhetorical slam dunk.

  5. Wow fish! You're a gutsy fella for cracking it out the slab! You should show us the 4.5 too!

I have to touch, feel and smell them...that's what collecting is all about. I know it's a 2.5 , I have the label still, and I can always re-slab it if necessary. I've posted the 4.5 before in this thread, but here it is again:

Is it for sale? Do you really need two copies?

But here's one of the most (if not the most) bizarre juxtapositions:

    #68:

    9.6 $552

    9.4 $1,355

    :whatthe::whatthe:

Is this a case of buy the book not the grade or is this someone getting caught up in a bidder's war?

Must have been a nasty bidding war. I'd feel dirty if I had won and then saw how much the 9.6 went for.

  7. I know it's been said that ComicLink is the premiere auction place as far as fetching prices...well, how 'bout:

  8. Sweet lot, Fishbone--reel 'em in!

Speaking of lots, I wonder if a ComicLink focused auction has ever had this many ASMs in 9.8 (17 in all and they're all up for grabs until later tonight):

    #31

    #50!!

    #61

    #64

    #69

    #97

    #100

    #107

    #122!!

    #125

    #126

    #128

    #182

Man, if I could only have one. :frown: By chance, anyone bidding on any of them?
