  1. Hellboy and the Goon are both tough guys, but one is a hero and the other is a ruthless gangster. Hellboy is awesome, but I've found the Goon to be better for a while now. Not just that the funny moments are more laughable, but the jokes are varied. It's also a comic that isn't just for laughs - there's a very dark side to the book that gives a really unique contrast to the humor.
  2. Issue #54 preview. Zombie herds = awesome. http://comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=1318&disp=table
  3. Oh no it wasn't you - no need to be sorry, it was the #56 cover that was solicited in Previews that I was referring to - not a huge deal but usually Kirkman is very guarded about what happens next so I thought it was strange.
  4. It sure is disappointing that the cover for #56 was solicited before #51 comes out, and now this - a huge part of what makes the book so good is the suspense. The cliffhanger from #50 was killed.
  5. Morrison's first few issues of Batman weren't the best, but if you haven't given RIP a shot, jump on board. Kunkel is doing Shazam! Don't let the page quality keep you away. And Walking Dead is awesome (on topic )
  6. wow - if Johns Action Comics, JSA, and Green Lantern, Morrison Batman and All-Star Superman, Andreyko Manhunter, Gray/Palmiotti Jonah Hex, and this week's Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam! are low quality - please let me know the real quality books on the stands - I'm about to discover the greatest comics reading day of my life!
  7. My LCS wasn't interested in ordering above their usual numbers for the issue, so I made a deal with them that they bump their order to 50 and I'd buy all the additional copies if they gave me the variants. I expected to get 2 variants... but the ratio was 1:10 so I ended up with 5
  8. Another very fast reading issue, but I really like how issue 49 and 50 were done. Following one of the most intense comics ever written created high expectations, and I think Kirkman and Adlard continue to do an incredible job.
  9. Thanks very much I didn't know what to expect without the reflection in the eye of the final color - but it looks good!
  10. Me too. The other WD original cover art I'm really curious to see is #9. I think I have a picture of it somewhere....it belongs to Rick Remender (of Fear Agent fame) I'll try to hunt it down if I can find it. It's not a close up (the art is hanging on Rick's wall), but it's still cool to see I'd like that
  11. Me too. The other WD original cover art I'm really curious to see is #9.
  12. What an awesome week - there's the Comic Book Resources interviews with Kirkman, and Adlard already mentioned - plus at Newsarama there's Kirkman interview #1, Kirkman interview #2, and an Adlard interview tomorrow. AND Comic Book Resouces put up a preview of Walking Dead #50.
  13. Your average WD issue is a faster than average read as it is, but this issue definitely reads FAST. Like deamentia says in his review though, while Kirkman didn't have much talking, Adlard did great job - especially with the bathroom scene. I didn't think about Carl going out on his own to look for help... it would fit the "All alone now." tag for issue #50. It would be a great way to start the book, then have Carl be too late at the end...
  14. It's the only title I read right in the store (after buying of course ). Another awesome issue. I really enjoyed the pacing after #48, but it's still a fast read. I'll read it again along with the letters column tonight. I'm a believer that you shouldn't have to put a spoiler alert when the title says "Discussion Thread", so there's your warning... . . . . . . . . . . . I did a double take on the first 2 pages. At first look I thought "hey that looks like Tyreese's head, but why are his eyes moving around? maybe it isn't him, just looks like him"... flip the page to Michonne putting her sword through the head - then a quick flip back to page one... and maaan, Kirkman pulls off another brutal Walking Dead moment, and to Michonne of all characters, who is already messed up times 10. Will Kirkman kill Rick after all? He already kicked us in the balls and stabbed our hearts during #48 - maybe this issue is just a quick breath and wind up for the bigger hit to come in #50. I love this book.
  15. Fixed. (thumbs u This is funny in a completely ironic way. How about "characters" ? Issue #49 out tomorrow - whoo!
  16. I inquired about one of his Criminal covers once, and it was inked over a blue line copy - in this case I don't think it really matters though as it was handled to the final inked stage by Phillips - different from Wieringo/Kesel or Cooke/J.Bone as examples - even though the final/inked/published version is never (usually) even touched by the original line artist, I still prefer the pencil art in this case - first time I experienced this was with a Kesel inked Wieringo piece - it was awesome, but in the end was bothered that Wieringo didn't physically handle the original I had - it took a while for me to come around to accepting pencil art originals that go straight to digital colors, but I really appreciate them these days - especially with artists like Quitely and Jae Lee doing such beautiful work.
