I was just going to say that too, that I recall CGC gives green qualified label if tattooz are missing... but that maybe CGC giving you a blue label but noting that the tattooz were missing from the insert, was CGC's way of saying it was a "manufacturing error"?

what if there are copies as such... for sure when the tattoo are out they pulled the insert... thats why theres a rip on most at the spine...

    Could have been roller marks.

it seems prevalent... Ive owned several copies ranging from 5.5 to 9.8 recently... even the 9.8 has it to some degree in the same area... just don't feel it necessary to post multiple pics from what I've seen on eBay

link to a quick search  with small discussion of related defect...

  3. Sorry guys I cant post pictures but...

I owned a CGC 7.5 Copy that had divots straight line indent...

A little more descriptive id say almost like someone rolled the aluminum part attached to a eraser of a wood pencil against the cover but longer at a angle horizontal across "HULK" more predominate across the "K" and a little through the "L"...

Fast forward today, I get my hands on my 9.8 copy exact same place and type of defect but subtle...

My question is... Roller defect/printing defect... Anyone else own copies have owned copies notice this?!?

So, I think I am going to open up a can or worms if I ask this question, and I know it has been brought up in other threads with no clear answer, so here goes.

I just got my book graded 8.0, " Mark Jewelers Insert" , Tattooz Missing from Insert.

I know that I checked this issue before I purchased it, it had the small label and Lakeside inserts both fully attached and inserted with no damage, pics attached, so I was a little confused.

I found a FF 252 w/ tattoos to compare it to my book, which is why the pic of the insert has the square tattoo sample.

Long story short, I cracked the slab because it was driving me crazy and sure enough when I shined a light through the Lakeside Insert there was no tattoo. I didn't shine a light through the insert when I bought it because I didn't know that I had too verify the tattoo was in there. If there is a lakeside insert with no damage, there should be a tattoo right.

So,  do any of you know of any issues that could have had occurred with the manufacturing process which could have kept a tattoo from being inserted? Or has anyone encountered this before?

I thought it might have been the old FF 252 Lakeside Tattoo Swap, but there is no damage to my book.

    Thanks for your input.

    Curious

I have a green label stating missing from insert?!?!

Wait, so you think that all the green holograms can become distorted due to temperature?

I dunno... I have a “blue” one if I mess with it it’ll turn green... if it’s been lying untouched I believe it’ll stay blue... I was trying to figure it out after I bought it on eBay... at the same token I compared it to the other books with similar holograms yes they are green yellow or whatever... but I was not convinced about it being a “blue” thing... the labels state “distorted” while my slabbed book was blue it was not listed any different... the errors state “distorted hologram”...

Wasn't it running at something like double that price or possibly even more than that for a 9.8 graded copy over a decade ago?  hm

    2018-10=2008...  since 2013...

    I bought my 9.8 in 2015(time flies) for 11k

Connoisseur- The facts say Incredible Hulk #181 has doubled in price since 2013 in any grade.

Lou- Although this statement would appear to be generally accurate, I do not believe it is correct when it comes to the 9.8 and higher graded copies of this book.  (shrug)

What would be a correct statement?!? (shrug)

    ok wait...

A: Maybe you're acknowledging connoisseurs statement and raising him 10 years... :signofftopic::golfclap::tonofbricks::frustrated::ohnoez:

B: You are eluding to the fact that the a 9.8 copy hasn't reached its potential and has possibility for more future growth...^^

Ill affirm that my statement is within context of Connoisseurs original statement...(shrug)

    I sold a 9.0 for 2900 couple years ago...

Torpedo Comics must have sold a SS 9.8 recently... and someone on Instagram bought a 2xsig 9.8 from a seller in San Diego...

if a Blue Label 9.8 becomes a 30k book Ill probably blank my pants...
