  1. Big kudos to djpinkpanther for a great lot of Byrne FFs and way more extras than I deserved (thumbs u

As most of you know, Thomas has had to put aside his collecting to take care of other matters. So here's to you, my collecting brother. I hope things go well for you and I hope you'll be able to pick back up with your comic collecting one day. It's always been a pleasure working with you. I'll leave you with this traditional irish blessing:

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

    May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

  2. Will be starting a "Everything's $5" thread in the next couple of days. Mostly copper stuff.

A handful of bronze Marvel horror

    Thor (mostly Simonson)

    Fantastic Four (nearly all Byrne)

    Daredevil (later Miller issues)

Iron Man (low to mid 100s)

    Captain America (mostly 247-255)

Batman Hush issues (maybe a 608 in there)

And some more misc Marvel & DC copper...

A nod to nochips who ran a thread like this several months ago.

  3. It comes down to what you're willing to pay for it. If it means a lot to you, you're willing to pay more for it.

right. And you want what you pay for it not to be too far off what everyone else is willing to pay for a similar book, right?

There are some people who will pay ANY price to get what they want. There are others who will pay a fair market value. Most people fall into the second catagory to and want to see what others are paying so that they get the book for a fair price.

So again if GPA has values I can use I think it's smart to use them...as are all other avaialble options.

I'm right with you, brother...I figure if the resource is there, might as well use it (thumbs u . And let me add that it doesn't bother me to put a high price on it, because I'll refund every bit of it if the buyer isn't happy. And I'm trying to get the best price I can on my comics...so I can continue to support my habit, which is buying more comics :applause:

  4. and do you have to be standing on one foot and have one hand tied behind you back when you hit the

    :takeit:

    meh

    I don't get it....let me ask again...

    Open question to all buyers.

How do you know if you are going to be paying a good price for a book if it is outside the scope of Overstreet, and there are no recorded sales on Comiclink, no recent sales on Ebay and no one you know has bought one recently?

How do you figure out what the book is worth on the open market?

    R.

It comes down to what you're willing to pay for it. If it means a lot to you, you're willing to pay more for it.

  5. the only possible situation to me that is understandable is what october is talking about, a rare book that would be very difficult to find a graded copy otherwise
What difference does this make as long as the grade is accurate? Why should it matter if do or don't quote GPA when naming the price? I'm going to look at it when I decide on the price or when I'm deciding to buy. People know if they want to pay full GPA on a book or not.

I agree, Transplant. What difference does it make if the buyer is willing to pay the price and the seller offers a full refund if not satisfied? The bottom line is, a comic is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. All any guide is is an indicator of what a book has sold for in the past. As a buyer, if I don't like the prices, I move on. No harm, no foul.

  6. This Forum just turns into a bigger mess by the day. Bumping a sales thread a dozen times when the books aren’t moving? No problem! Running a sales thread with the same groups of books over and over for 6 months? No problem! Certain books aren’t selling? Pull ‘em out and start a new thread. Maybe somebody will want them if they’re listed separately this time. Let’s not forget to start multiple threads either! Gotta make sure we take up as much front page real estate as possible. Guidelines? What guidelines?

Well, I'll name names. And the first name would be mine.

I'm pretty certain that Richard is talking about me. And he has a good point. Even if he's not talking about me, I'm guilty of what he's saying. So, for my part, I apologize to those of you who feel like Richard does. It's easy to get caught up in trying to move stuff and to forget that after a round or two, others might be sick of seeing the same old stuff. I also apologize for having two threads on the front page at the moment, as I didn't mean to do that.
