  1. Two covers to add to your point Bill. Can't we all just get along!!
  2. Love this thread. Interesting topics and knowledgable Atlas fans. Horror and war comics are seemingly the main focus, which is to be expected. I would like to post some of the western books. There is a wealth of just outstanding covers and art/stories that I have picked up in the last few years. West. Outlaws # 1 Maneely hanging cover with Heath, Powell and Ayers art Maneely cvr. Just look at the detail of the gun belts, holsters, boots and attire. This is just a labor of love by Joe. This issue also has Everett, Sinnott and Heck art. TGK # 25 also has Williamson art. West. Kid # 8 I just like mood and grimness of this cover by Shores. Cowboy Action # 11 Look at the depth and detail by Maneely on this cover art. Plus there are Williamson and Matt Baker stories. Williamson splash page from CA #11 Here is the Baker splash from CA #11. Not his best stuff, but rarely found in Atlas books. Quick Trigger West. # 15 What can I say!? What a cover. Plus issue has a Torres story.
  3. Superlative books Bill. The MGA title is my favorite of the big 4 DC mystery titles. However, I also find them hard to find in nice grades, especially the middle issues in the # 20s' through # 40s'. Here are some of mine. This Bernard Bailey cover is always one of my favorites. He is always imaginative in rendering weird creatures. Look at some of his 50's horror stuff which rate as some of the best horror covers ever.
  4. Here's one not seen too often. Spook # 1 dated 1946 by Overstreet. Has a John Giunta cover. Interior has a couple of humor stories and a weird story, which I am posting the splash page. The artist look familar to me, one of you guys can probably recognize it.
  5. Thought I would post again some books that were deleted from previous pages on this thread. Some of my favorites. Pict.Rom # 6 Teen Romances # 1 Not sure if I have seen this one posted before. It is the last Diary Secrets (#30). Pict Romance # 5
  6. Thanks for the BIG welcome! Here are 3 splash pages from three stories from the Monster Crime. The artwork is second rate and contains NO horror stories. You may have noticed the comic sold for 15 cents (for 1952). No wonder this book is scarce. There are 7 stories so it is alittle larger than a 10 cent issue. There is a sister comic to this called Crime Must Stop published by Hillman. I have a slabbed copy of that. Unfortunately, my scanner is not CGC slab friendly. Images come out crappy.
  7. Nice books Zzutak!! That HOM # 11 is a real toughy to find in HG. Nicest one I have seen.
  8. The 15, 17, and 18 are Big Apple copies. The 27, 33, 35, 36 and 40 are Bethlehem copies.
  9. Thanks guys. Thought I'd post a few more from my collection. These are some of my favorite covers. WEB OF EVIL # 1
  10. I will definitely post some of the Mound City books. Bill, you got the Tale Unexp 54 and I picked up the 53,57,60,68,69 and the 25 book lot, which has some incredible books (condition wise) in it. I wish I had picked up some other lots as they were selling for reasonable prices. Here are some of my House of Secrets. My number one I bought from the infamous Jay Maybruck many moons ago.
  11. I know we want to move on to other titles, but I just had to post just a few more HOM'S. These covers deserve to be shown. I'll start to dig for some HOS books over the weekend. I just received my shipment of books from the Mound City auction out in St.Louis area. 2000 silverage comic collection with 1000 slabbed! Picked some lots of Tales Unexpected, HOM, MGA plus some HG slabbed stuff. [/img] This last one # 109 is the Bethlehem copy.
  12. Whew...... I'm just going take a time out and just savor the incredible books you guys have posted. I've pulled books, from my collection, that I have not looked at in many, many moons. Adam Strange, that HOM # 5, a fantastic cover, one of my favorites, it looked flawless. I have two nice copies, but yours blows mine away. Bill, the copies you have are some thing else. Did you run across a particular high grade collection all at one time or like me just accumulated issues here and there over the years? I have picked up some Big Apple copies of the other DC mystery/scifi titles. I'm digging for more to post later.
  13. (thumbs u Yeehah, It's a HOM hootin' nannie!! Wow, what great books guys. It's nice to run into other collectors with similar interests! Here are sum' more of mine. /
  14. Since we are still on HOM, here are some more of my favorites from my collection. I think this is an excellent Kirby cover. Love the coloring scheme. And, of course, I have to include a weird alien cover. This issue has one of the weirdest creatures in this entire title run. Unusual coloring scheme too.
  15. (thumbs u Wow, Bill your # 30 is unreal. As far as the wash tone goes, maybe alittle with the man and woman under the rays. John
  16. Here are some recent buys and favorites of mine. Yeah, I am new to this thread. Some great stuff has been shown here, I hope I can add some new books to it. The Beware # 6 is one tuff' cookie to find. Usually, when you do, its a rag. Got this one at the Balticon recently. Nicest I ever seen. This is RQ Sale at his best! Fantastic Fears # 6 This is the infamous paper cutter beheading story. Very outrageous. Splash page below.
  17. THIS ONE PROBABLY RANKS AS MY BIGGEST STEAL (BAKER BOOKS) OVER THE YEARS. PICKED THIS ONE UP IN SAN DIEGO 2007 BURIED IN A CALIFORNIA DEALER'S BOX FOR CONDITION GUIDE ( $ 45.00). BUT, THEN AGAIN I HAVE PAID UP THE WAZOO FOR SOME ISSUES TOO. IT ALL BALANCES OUT , I SUPPOSE.
  18. NOW, HAVING SHOWN THE ARTWORK FROM HOM # 68, HERE IS THE SPLASH AND COVER FOR HOM # 73. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE ART FOR THE COVER! MANEELY DID THE ARTWORK FOR THE STORY. I AM POSITIVE ITS HIS COVER ARTWORK ALSO. IS THIS AN ALREADY KNOWN FACT?? IF THE COVER OF #73 IS NOT MANEELY, WHO IN THE DC "BULLPEN" COULD DRAW IN THIS STYLE? IT'S DEFINITELY NOT MOREIRA , ELY, MESKIN OR PURCELL. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?
  19. OVERSTREET LISTS HOM #68 AS THE ONLY ISSUE WITH JOE MANEELY ARTWORK. AS SOME MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW, JOE SPENT A SHORT TIME WITH DC UNTIL HIS UNTIMELY DEATH. HE PRODUCED SOME VERY GOOD QUALITY ARTWORK IN SEVERAL HOM ISSUES. HERE IS THE STORY FROM HOM # 68. s/
  20. THIS ISSUE OF MGA IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT TO FIND IN DECENT GRADE (FINE OR BETTER). THE DARK PURPLE JUST MAGNIFIES EVERY MINOR DEFECT. THIS COPY TOOK ME MANY YEARS TO FIND.
  21. > THIS ONE IS A BETHLEHEM COPY. WILL DIG INTO THE "ARCHIVES" FOR SOME MORE LATER.
  22. /[/img] target="_blank"> / I RECENTLY DISCOVERED THIS THREAD AND THOUGHT I WOULD JOIN THE FUN. I'VE COLLECTED AND ENJOYED THESE TITLES FOR MANY YEARS. ATLASFAN YOU HAVE A GREAT COLLECTION. THOUGHT I WOULD POST SOME OF MY FAVORITES AND SOME NOT SHOWN YET.
