  1. Both of the guys told me at San Diego that they would not be attending NYCC this year, unless one of the companies they are working with decided to fly them in at the last minute to promote something. With 5 weeks out from the show, I doubt it is going to happen at this point.

  5. If you haven't already looked at the back cover of Issue 150 to make sure your book is a 9.8 you might see my Splash Page Comic Art ad for Charlie's original art. Big props to Big Clutch & Robert for making it happen in this issue! Yes, that's me. Sorry for the pic of my mug, but at least y'all can recognize me at SDCC & NYCC. On a sidenote, WD 150 art is up to look at. Thanks Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art www.splashpageart.com
  6. Hey Guys, Stefano Gaudiano and I are last minute adds to the North Carolina show next weekend. I mentioned all the details in the original art section of the CGC forum in case anyone wants to look at WD 148 originals and new covers. Details on my website about Stefano sketching/signing. Thanks Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art
  7. I didn't have Charlie's pencils until he presented them to me in San Jose, which is where it sold, so I do not have a scan of them... I'm afraid you will have to hope the new owner posts them on CAF. I've got a scan of the inks... just not the pencils. Mark
  8. Retro, I can't speak to whether these pieces will be used other than as promotional pieces for the story arc. One never knows whether they'll be used for something else done the road, but their original intention is to promote the new story arc. Yes, I will have them available for sale. Yes, I have already received multiple requests if there are certain characters. Yes, I'll probably make them all "make offer". No, I can't tell anyone what the characters will be until they appear in the public. In unrelated news, Charlie offered a 2 character sketch up for charity as part of the Big Wow Comic Fest Auction that I ran for the show on Saturday Night. Apparently people had spent what they had already, or were being cheap so I won the auction. Here is what Charlie came up with for me: I didn't have a Michonne piece by him so I figured it was a good choice. Mark
  9. Carl Elvis, I could pose that question to them, but ultimately that type of project would be up to Robert to initiate. They might have an opinion on whether they'd be interested in doing it, but it would be Robert's call. Mark
  10. Hey Guys, For you all that haven't heard, Charlie Adlard and Stefano Gaudiano will be guests at Big Wow Comic Fest on May 17 & 18th in San Jose California. www.bigwowcomicfest.com I am going to be moderating a panel with Charlie and Stefano at the con. The panel subject will be: Drawing the Walking Dead Artist, Charlie Adlard, and inker Stefano Gaudiano discuss what it is like to create the images behind the hugely successful comic and tv series The Walking Dead. Charlie will explain how his art style has evolved during his tenure on the book and how having an inker allows him to work differently now. Stefano, being the newest addition to the team, shares his experiences of inking Charlie and how this project differs from his vast number of other previous collaborations. They'll discuss the controversial "All Out War" storyline and how working on a near bi-weekly schedule for a year affected how they worked. I will be handling a Q&A session at the end of the panel to touch on things that I think fans of the book might want to hear. An example of something that I will pose is if they could change a direction of how a specific storyline turned out or what happened to a certain character in the book, what would it be? Since you all are rabid fans, I thought I'd ask you for suggested questions that I should ask the guys. Throw out any legitimate questions that you'd like me to pose and I'll pick a handful of the best ones to use in the panel. Perhaps I'll mention your handle as the person who asked the question live in the panel. Thanks Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art
  11. I've read it. Pretty great stuff, huh? I'd say more, but I don't know how to use the spoiler tag thing so I don't want to ruin it for everyone. I kept score in the page descriptions again for you Retro, but I figure everyone else will be like wtf.. You are slacking though. You haven't made your public service announcement of Splash Page has pages up yet... very disappointing Mark
  12. Garf, For the record, there has NOT been a new round of upping all of the prices on the remaining Walking Dead pages that we have since the market went up 1-2 years ago 8) There were a few pages that were away at several art exhibitions in Europe for 6+ months, and were not on the website for a while until they returned to my possession. Once I got them back, I adjusted any prices that were out of whack due to the market change from when they were first priced and added them back to the website. Other than that, no increases. The last several issues do have more action, zombies and big events affecting them than many issues in the past so there are some high priced pages in them. The lesser pages are still in the $225 - $350 range, with some of those actually being pretty nice group shots and big shots of main characters. While you never know what is going to appeal to someone, there are just ok pages going to $350 - $800? solely because they are in the issue 20 range, have characters on them that are dead and on 11 x 17". http://www.ebay.com/itm/WALKING-DEAD-ORIGINAL-ART-ISSUE-22-PAGE-12-signed-Charles-Adlard-AMC-Zombie-/251416740709?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a899b0365&nma=true&si=8oqHBGhuS3KcvSlECVUjQoP1hdA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Walking-Dead-REAL-ORIGINAL-COMIC-BOOK-ART-Rick-Tyrese-Dale-25-p9-Adlard-/281238587716?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item417b204944 There are people just wanting a nice page of their favorite character as something cool to frame and put on their wall so the $250 pages are perfect for that. A memorable WD moment is what all actual collectors are looking for (and zombies) so they are going to cost more or be sold already. While there are way more expensive zombie pages than in the recent past, there have been a lot better zombie pages than we've had in years so they are more expensive. It has actually lowered what we've been charging for decent zombie pages that would have been $1500 - $2000 in the past but are $900 - $1500 now. More supply of zombies, lower price. 13. Hey all you Todd & M.K. Fans- M.K. Perker is now accepting commissions. Details can be seen here: M.K. Perker Commission Information Contact information to setup a commission is contained in the link above. Thank you from Ken, M.K. and Mark at Splash Page Comic Art www.splashpageart.com
  14. Nexus, I won't go into what art Robert owns, but I think that you might have been tricked by his dry sense of humor. Robert collects certain types of pieces and while he thankfully doesn't pickup the majority of originals, he does have a collection that any of us would be envious of. I can't speak to what Tony still has, but I too have heard the rumors about him still having the #1 cover. Sigh, why do the Lions disappoint so.... I was counting on them to help my Cowboys... They started off so promising. At least the snowbowl has been fun to watch. Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art
  15. Glad to be of service Oh and for the record, if you go to www.splashpageart.com and type in the words "walking dead zombie" into the search field for my website it will bring up any/all walking dead zombie pages. If you do that search right now, you'll find 6 minor zombie pages and 2 major zombie pages (one being a borderline minor but because of multiple panels it got the nod to major ... imho) I'll let you guys compile 97 - 117 Mark
  16. Because I'm as insane as the lot of you... I did the official zombie count on all of the artwork that has been produced for the interiors of the main Walking Dead series from issue 1-96 and this is what I came up with: Zombie pages: Each page in which a zombie appears. Minor page (appearance): generally only 1 panel with a very small zombie shot or minor shots of tiny background zombie stick figures Major page: any non splash or DPS in which zombies appear throughout the page Splash page: a full single page with no additional panels in which a zombie appears on the page. A few of these are major as in the entire page is all zombies or giant shots of zombies, but I didn't break it down to that degree in splashes. Double Page spread: same as splash.. a DPS in which zombies appear, some larger some smaller. Tony Moore's run 1-6 Minor pages: 16 Major pages: 22 Splashes: 3 Double Page Spreads: 0 Total zombie pages 41 out of 132 total pages produced = 31% of the pages Tony produced have zombies on them. Charlie Adlard's run 7-48 Minor: 70 Major: 102 Splashes 8 Double Page Spreads: 6 Total zombie pages from 7-48 = 186 out of 924 pages produced = 20% Charlie Adlard's run 49 - 96 Minor 43 Major: 110 Splashes: 8 DPS: 12 Total zombie pages from 49-96 = 165 out of 1056 pages produced = 15.6% Total for Charlie Adlard Iss 7 up to Iss 96 Minor pages: 113 Major pages: 212 Splashes 16 DPS 18 Total zombie pages from Charlie Iss 7-96 = 351 out of 1980 pages produced = 17.7% So yes, a zombie page is pretty rare... although that actually seems higher than I've noticed as it seems like 1 to 2 zombie pages an issue if we are lucky. However there are certain issues in which most of the book contains zombie pages and then several books in which there are no zombies whatsoever. I don't have Issues 97 to current handy so I didn't compile the stats there. All of that zombie counting makes me feel a little vaklempt... talk amongst yourselves... 18. Hey Guys, It has been a while since I have had a raw or graded Walking Dead 1 in my comic shop. I have obviously heard white vs black covers forever, but I honestly am not sure what the difference looks like. I see you guys posting pics of your 1's and discussing white vs black, but can someone post an image of a white & a black side by side in the same post and/or describe which part of the cover we are looking at to tell the difference between them? I just picked up a 1 in my store recently and plan on slabbing it, but didn't really examine it closely to see if it is a white or black cover, just for condition. Thanks for the help. 20. For all of you board members that made it out to see Charlie & say "Hi" at my booth at NYCC, I appreciate it! Gratz to Retro & TBP for winning the random chances to get sketches by Charlie. Glad you guys both loved your sketches. It was memorable seeing how excited Eric was when he was the last ticket pulled on Fri. The BIGGEST PROPs to EvilAsh & DHurley for their handling of the Signature Series books and helping at my booths during the show. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Don't worry James J, don't feel left out. I know you didn't get to attend, but the zombie fairy told me that you have a surprise coming to you once the dust settles. Finally if you missed NYCC, I know it is a long ways off, but every board member should plan on attending the Big Wow Comic Fest in San Jose, CA exactly 7 months from today, May 17 & 18th! While the show has only announced a few guests so far, we will have an amazing guest list, and we'll be posting more big names in the coming months. Thanks Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art
  21. As an art dealer, believe it or not, I don't keep much art for myself, but when Charlie drew my likeness on the cover to Walking Dead Issue 114, I knew I had to own it. I'm drawn as one of Negan's Saviors being choked out by Jesus. You can't ask for much more than that imo Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art

  24. For the curious ones , yes pg 10 was gobbled up by someone in the Skybound family prior to being made public. It happens. I hear they are fans of the book too As far as 12 & 13 I have no idea who Jeff Grimes is but the page was made available to someone that was drawn into the page, prior to the art getting shipped to me. No idea if it is a friend, business contact or otherwise. I sell what I can when it ends up in the shipment. Even some stuff that arrives in the shipment ends up going back to skybound/Walking Dead tv related people before the issue comes out. Oh, and Jon is correct in that if you see a page in preview online or are the first collector to drive to their comic shop the morning of the issue's release it is a good idea to contact me as soon as you can about a particular page even if the pages haven't been put up yet. You might not get the page guaranteed to you, but I try to email the interested person when I post the pages up as a courtesy. Hope that answers your questions Mark Hay Splash Page Comic Art www.splashpageart.com
