  1. Thanks for the update Bruce :applause:

I believe it all boils down to proper desiccant usage and maintenance. I also have a gun safe setup to store my books and guns.

The safe itself is in a climate controlled room in my house and I normally keep the door of the safe open when I'm in the room which is quite often as this is my office. I'm also not willing to take any chances and I'm a big fan of the "Eva-Dry" products as many of my friends use them in their gun safes to prevent their guns from rusting.

I personally begun using the "Eva-Dry" E-333 model about 3-4 wks ago and I have yet to recharge it. These are relatively inexpensive and can be bought for under $20 on amazon.com, this is definitely a no brainer IMO.

Memo to self. Stay on Count's good side. Do not take him up on offer to carpool to the post office.

lol Seriously, and a very clever way to "dissuade" potential comic thieves from considering a break-in at his location.

Did I mention? -- I just started collecting old hand-grenades too. You know, the really unstable ones that could easily go off from opening a safe -- or from even thinking of touching a CGC book within.

    lol

I was actually contemplating getting this sticker from my safe manufacturer..

  3. At Lowes

It's a special order item as they don't have them displayed in stores but they do have it on their website.

The best part was the $65 delivery fee. That alone is worth getting it. Most of the safes I looked at prior to this one would cost me $300-400 for curbside delivery and if I wanted the "white glove" delivery that would consist of the safe being delivery and setup inside your home it would cost an additional $300.

I ended up tipping the delivery people $100 because they actually had to carry it up stairs and from one side of my house to the other....

They sent out 3 bulky delivery guys and it took them an hour and a half to get it into my house and setup. I think this safe goes with the house if I ever sell it lol

  4. This safe does not have much of a fire rating. It's rated for 30 minutes only. The fire protection mainly consists of several pieces of sheetrock. Even so, I'm not taking any chances...since I'm home 85% off the time the safe remains open so no moisture builds up in it and I also use an Eva-Dry dehumidifier to remove most of the moisture in the air. :)

The room the safe is stored in is climate controlled so I think I'll be fine. The safe is more of a theft deterrent, just in case. If the thief is able to get this monstrosity out of my house and into a car they deserve its contents lol

  5. Thanks, Roy. (thumbs u

Next question is whether anyone knows of a good safe or lockable storage box they can recommend. Probably looking more for a small lockbox, just to discourage opportunistic theft, rather than something big and bulky designed to withstand fire...my slabs aren't worth all that much.

  6. Its funny to think that thousands of dollars can ride of a grade. If it was resubbed and got a 9.8, or the owner somehow dropped the case and damaged the book slightly, the book could lose so much value. I rather stick to my 8.0 copy, even if I was rich.

In the even of a resub is the grade drops all you have to due is threaten to sue and your grade will be restored (thumbs u

  7. Memorializing this for my own amusement and to make it easy to find/update.

    Welcome to our latest addition!

Oh we run our course and prove that the forum is over, no more debates are worthy, OT has taken over, and we are all going to kill each other about once or twice a year.
