  1. 1/2" split at top of spine, 1" split at bottom of spine. Chips and tears to spine. 1"x.5" back cover. Small discolored spot on cover from tape removal, staples pulled, several tears up to 2" and old dealer price in grease pencil on cover.
  2. I'm gonna say 9.2. Nice presentable copy.
  3. I'm trying to learn how to Identify defects and discern wether it falls under ware associated with handling or manufacturing nothing more nothing less.
  4. Yup I think all things considered it is like you said "so in a sense due to manufacturing, but not deliberate" Thanks for your insight.
  5. So there is no way that a corner could be cut during manufacturing that would yield a slightly round shape? I've looked at these corners under magnification and I do not see any sign of softening or damage to the paper. The paper edge is sharp but the ink on the edge looks like very slight signs of marvel chipping. I've seen example of silver age graded books that received a 9.8 and had similar defect. I would have thought that if it was handling they would of been flagged as such and received a lesser grade.
  6. My question is can silver age books like this sometimes have round right hand corners not from the result of ware but due to manufacturing? Because these corners do not appear to be worn due to handling. Thoughts?
  7. It's in the hands of the cleaner/presser right now then off to cgc
  8. After 20 years of searching I can finally check this one off the list.
  9. I wanted to take the pics in natural light and I did it by a window so some those spots you see are shadows.
  10. There is a tear in the thumb crease by the black word bubble
  11. Okay thanks. I'll do some more digging now that I know what to look for.
  12. It doesnt appear to be spine stress nor does it look like corner ware do to handling. I've seen it a few times and it always looks the exact same. Could it be some sort of manufacturing defect?
  13. Yeah figured the same. Thanks for looking.
