  1. Looks like FF 1 has been bumped up from $2,200 up to $2,300 for a percentage gain of 4.5% in bottom of guide, as opposed to being bumped up from $135K up to $140K for a percentage gain of only 3.7%. With VG prices at double the Good prices as per usual. Looks like the lower grades for this book are starting to inch up at a slightly faster rate than the high grades which has definitely not been Overstreet's modus operandi in previous years. But really nothing in comparison to the GA keys and semi-keys which are definitely accelerating at a much faster percentage rate in the lower grades as opposed to the higher grades.
  2. Yowza!!! Steve, you are absolutely killing it with your books. I assume this must be fresh out from your own personal collection which you just got back from CGC since it's not even listed in their census report yet. Looks like a long ways down for their current highest graded copy since it's sitting all the way down at a middling Fine + 6.5. Congrats on an another fantastic book from your collection.
  3. Looks like HOS 92 went $1,500 up to $1,800 in top of guide for a percentage increase of 20%. Good enough for it to retain the #6 spot in Overstreet's Top 10 BA Chart. At bottom of guide, it looks like HOS 92 only went from $90 up to $100 for a percentage increase of only 11.1%. I would assume from these percentage increase that this book must still be available in grade, unlike many of the key or semi-key GA books which Overstreet now has accelerating in valuation at a substantially faster rate than high grade copies which in many cases never even hits the marketplace.
  4. Are you referring to BA and CA books here? Remember, it's only supposed to be a guide and really nothing more than that from a valuation point of view. Since you are referring mostly to Moderns, I thought most of them are really worth only cover value, if that, unless they are into the nosebleed grades which the Overstreet guide does not even attempt to report on since that is a 100% volatile and pure speculative market. Is he really that far off with respect to his valuation for CGC NM- 9.2 copies of books such as Walking Dead, NYX 3, NM 98, BA 12, etc. as most of the other common Moderns probably really doesn't carry much value in the marketplace unless they are in CGC 9.8 condition.
  5. Was wondering if this is a sign or portent of things to come? Who on the boards here would have thought 10 years ago that low grade copies of GA books would be accelerating in value at a much faster rate than the high grade copies of the same books? Especially when most collectors were not paying much attention to the lower grades and primarily chasing after the higher grades at that time. Wondering if 10 years from now we will reach the stage where the marketplace for Conserved and dare we say Restored (Slight) copies are accelerating at a faster rate in values than the uber expensive unrestored copies for key and semi-key GA books? And for the exact same reason, namely availability and affordability, why values are increasing faster on the lower grades as opposed to the higher grades in today's marketplace.
  6. Not sure, but I'm guessing this is it. Looks like there's actually more than just these 27 Centaurs to start off the auction. Finally leafed through the catalogue after having it for the entire week and there's another entire page of lower grade Centaurs (11 of them in total) to start off the Saturday portion of the auction.
  7. Beautiful copy. Looks better than a 6.5. I can see why Ritter believed it to be undergraded. Yes, especially after no doubt working on the book and then having to pay additional grading and shipping fees on the book. Especially when he could have simply sold it to me for the same price without incurring all of that unnecessary work and incremental costs.
  8. Is it just me or all of the auction houses starting to follow the CC time frame model? It just seems that the current Heritage auction has started for the longest while and yet it doesn't end until August 10th. Wouldn't that be over 3 entire weeks for the whole thing from start to finish?
  9. It's good for older books. Moderns move up and down so much the only good way to get a value is eBay. Are you referring to BA and CA books here? Remember, it's only supposed to be a guide and really nothing more than that from a valuation point of view.
  10. I already have 3 copy's Well, it never hurts to have another 3 and then you'll have half a dozen of them.
  11. I like Superman 1 better Well, if that's the case, then it must be your lucky day as I heard there's 3 of them in the upcoming CC auction next month.
  12. Looks like you managed to pick it up at the same Make an Offer price which I had given to him through Heritage back in June. I guess he must still have had the book out for grading at the time since Heritage never heard back from him. He was probably hoping for an even high grade on the book based upon how nicely it presents for the grade. I guess he still did alright in the end as he had picked it up only a few weeks earlier in the May Heritage Auction for only $776. Congrats on picking up a very nicely presenting copy of a HTF and first Centaur issue of this Star Comics run.
  13. I guess that must have been exactly what all of the brainwashed and rabid CGC diehards must have been thinking when what did turned out to be a CGC 8.5 graded copy of AF 15 sold for only $77K back in August of last year. Imagine saying "I just paid $77K for a CGC 8.5 graded copy of AF 15" going though my mind.
  14. Looks like the first ever 9.8 graded copy of ASM 14 is about to break the mark that the CGC 9.8 graded copy sold for back in later 2015: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/the-amazing-spider-man-14-marvel-1964-cbcs-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7166-91184.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Wonder how much higher this copy can go and also wondering if the fact that this is still an unpressed and original "natural" copy will help to boost its final price?
  15. Not sure, but I'm guessing this is it. Not all 27 are from the same source. Yes, as I believe one of them came from some guy named Edgar Church.
  16. Oh, I still remember back in the day when the Avengers 93 was definitely one of the must have BA books that all serious collectors just had to have in their collection. Unfortunately, definitely not the case anymore as it seemingly has become one of the lost and forgotten former BA keys, even with the square bound 52 pages of absolutely amazing Adams artwork from cover to cover. Hope you make it to SDCC one day in the near future.
  17. Then you probably should have snapped it up the first time it was available on Heritage as a first to market book for only $77K in August of last year. Looks like this turned out to be an amazingly fantastic price considering that it was $36K or at a whopping 32% discount to condition guide and also close to a $50K drop from what you was willing to pay for a similar graded copy 4 or 5 years ago. It's simply amazing how fast the mindset of collectors/investors can change on a book because I can still clearly remember virtually all board members here laughing about what a silly and ridiculous price to be paid for that book and how the foolish buyer was going to lose not only his shirt on the book, but also his pants at the same time. Not so much, I guess. But it's definitely interesting to compared this sentiment of the bandwagon jumpers from less than a year ago with the current prevailing one that this book simply will never ever crash and burn or possibly even come down in price. Any idea what that copy would go for in today's over-hyped and over-inflated marketplace.
  18. I heard at SDCC that they're new to market books from the Midwest. Steve; Any idea if these 27 Centaurs that are currently in the HA auction is just the initial batch of books from the OO collection or will there be more Centaurs or other books coming out from this collection here? My assumption is that this is probably it because in their catalog write-up for this grouping of books, Heritage only talked about the history of the Comics Magazine / Centaur publishers and really nothing about the collection or the owner of these particular books.
  19. Not sure how you guys can work with those Signature settings back on. I just retied them again and the posts are completely overwhelmed by the signatures which can take up almost the entire area of the post. Way too hard to filter through everything just to see the actual posted comments themselves.
  20. and I am getting ready to place my winning bids! Ayman Hariri
  21. Why........you party pooper, you. Don't you know it's a weekend and you should never spoil a good and fun story with boring and unexciting facts.
  22. Well, I am sure the seller must have also walked away quite happy since it looks like he made over $80K holding onto the book for just a few years since the HA archives indicates it was sold only back in November of 2013.
  23. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=677327 So, now I guess we all know who the winner of the WW 1 Solicitation Copy was on CC back in December. Wonder if it's going to go for more than the $291,100 price tag it went for on the last go round?
  24. Anyone hear an update on their lawsuit against CGC? Well, as the saying goes.....sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, however, since we are talking about legal mumbo jumbo, then it's probably worth a million words: Like you, I am absolutely shocked too from the picture up above. Since CCG is associated with both CGC and Heritage, it clearly looks like the Meyers and IGB must have won big time against them. So big in fact that they no longer have to work with the second stringers anymore in terms of the other grading company and then CC to auction off their books. CGC now not only have to grade their books, but also to encase them all in an universal unrestored slab due to the "high quality" of their work, plus it looks like they also get to use the services of Heritage to auction off their recreated books. Am I missing something here from this picture?
  25. Looks like Overstreet has finally just figured out that there are multiple printings of Superman 1 out there. Once again, I guess he's a little bit behind as we have been discussing this on the boards here for years now. He's actually dedicated a entire page right after his own market report to this matter and talks about how to identify the different printings. He even mentions gator's name and how this topic has been discussed by boardies in the past. Sounds as though he is asking for additional information on these printings including prices realized, factual data. In addition, he is also asking for similar information now for any other issues that may possibly be identified as having additional printings. Does books like Marvel 1 and Batman 1 come to mind here?
