  1. Not exactly sure how everybody quoted in that link can say definitiely that this SCG 9.5 graded card is the best when there are apparently also 3 PSA 10.0 Gem Mint graded copies of this card out there.
  2. Not necessarily so if one of the bidders is the house itself, whether it be for legitimate or illegitimate reasons.
  3. All I can say to this then is best of luck to you on the Kansas City copy then.
  4. Billy Well, let's not forget the other 91 issues in this run which he also has available in this CC Event Auction that's open for bidding tomorrow.
  5. Then again, when I clicked onto your link this GA book right next to the copy of 'Tec 37 certainly looks pretty burning red hot from its final price: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/the-human-torch-23-timely-1946-cgc-gd-vg-30-off-white-to-white-pages-the-alex-schomburg-classic-robot-cover-has/a/122235-19458.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Archive-MyTrackedLots-101116 With some 55 copies graded higher than this, albeit a nicely presently copy relative to its assigned CGC 3.0 grade, sold for $2,880 or over 5.5X condition guide.
  6. Definitely on the low side if you compare it to other recent sales from a few months ago such this one here which also had tape on it to attached a married cover to the book. Besides the married cover, looks likt the tape was also used to hold together the cover of the spine which was completely split, and yet this copy here was still able to fetch a rather astounding $5,280: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/detective-comics-37-married-cover-dc-1940-cgc-qualified-fr-gd-15-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122206-11361.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515# Maybe the consignor might have done better if he had broken the book up and sold it off in parts, especially since this Incomplete raw Poor condition front cover without the other 66 pages of the book still managed to fetched an even more astounding $3,332.40 back in May of this year: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/detective-comics-37-cover-only-dc-1940-condition-pr/a/122219-13317.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  7. Well, looks like Heritage has another copy of Seven Seas 5 coming up in this week's Sunday/Monday auction (Ok, Monday it is): https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/seven-seas-comics-5-universal-phoenix-feature-1947-cgc-fn-55-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122235-19666.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 Maybe it's hoping to ride in on the coattails of this Promise copy of SS 5 as this mid-grade copy is already sitting at $1,740 with the Heritage BP juice in there, or already at more than triple condition guide. Will definitely be interesting to see how much further action there is on this copy here and where it will finally finish up at in comparison.
  8. Nah..............probably goes to show the snail's pace that CCS/CGC is working at as many submittors who sent their copies in last year are still appreantly waiting to get their books back from the CCS/CGC long term holding storage facility, even as prices are dropping like a rock in the interim.
  9. Hate to be the bearer of negative thoughts here...............but don't think it's a possibility, as it's really more of a reality heading into the weekend.
  10. Well, he either had such a great show that he was happy or had such a bad show that he decided to cut his losses. I sure hope it was the former… More probably the latter since I was reading a report from one of the Overstreet advisors in this year's guide and he called the ECCC the absolute worst show of the year for 2021. So, I guess the show this year is probably not any better, and his three majpr complaints were: 1) Lack of attendance; 2) Overkill on the security; and 3) City is just not what it used to be from the riots and political chaos POV. As for Torpedo Con, this advisor said it was the best show of the year and his bet was that many more dealers would bwe clawing their way to be part of it going forward. Then again, I guess NOT since the Torpedo Con was apparently canceled for this year.
  11. You must have special access because when I click onto your attached link here, it takes me to an Error Page which says that I am not allowed to display this page.
  12. Yep, they've always claimed that their past auction results were considered to be proprietary information. Then again, you might actually have something here as they might just want to hide the fact that their website utilizing old technology from almost 30 years ago just simply can't do something like an auction archive.
  13. I absolutely HATE CL's auction format because it pretty much forces me to "bomb bid" if I really want a particular book and bomb bidding is something which I absolutely abhor doing. As a bidder, the EXACT reason why I much prefer the CC auction format with their 3-minute reset timer. As I found out during their big Jon Berk Auction a few years ago, 3 minutes is actually a long time and even enough time for you to double check and review the HA and CC archives for past sales (forget about CL who's archives are useless), the CGC population census and Gerber RSI rating, the Overstreet valuation, the bids you have on any other surrounding issues you have to ensure you don't go over your budget, and then even time to grab a drink from the fridge to clear your head to see if you should increase that bid increment or not.
  14. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/auctionschedule.asp#Past Auction Results Definitely nowhere approaching complete as they appear to be very carefully selected to include generally only the high dollar value results in order to paint a favorable picture of the auction. Hence, the reason why GPA is not willing to accept CL's auction results because they only want to include "selected results" as chosen by CL themselves and then to exclude all of the other results. With the CC historical auction results, that is the one single good thing about the revamp they did a few years ago. Now, instead of waiting seemingly weeks or months on end for them to manually load their auction results if lucky, they are now loaded instantaneously into their archives after each individual auction lot is finished.
  15. That's most likely because if you click onto that link to "View The CGC Certification" at the bottom of the Lot Description, you'll see the following: Grader Notes Unavailable Not sure why, but for some apparent reason, looks like the Graders simply didn't make any notes at all when grading this book. I guess this is why they say the Graders Notes does not necessarily list all of the defects associated with a particular book.
  16. I just took a quick look and as far as I can see, the Grader Notes are right there at the bottom of the Lot Description spiel that they have: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/action-comics-13-dc-1939-cgc-fn-55-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7279-92016.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116 CGC Grader Notes:crease right bottom of front covermultiple staple tearsplit bottom of spine Now, that was the notes which they have for the Action 13 that's coming up in their September Signature Auction.
  17. With card certification taking place, any bets we will be seeing thousands of these Marvel cards coming out of the woodwork: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/275430887924?hash=item4020f5d1f4:g:AccAAOSw5s5iluG6&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8I8Z2D5w%2FL0BJ0OFx0Vdi0Td96WYnCca7vSTfblkqeonFaQVDLgPKIKpWocSE%2FM4JircA6OoH05KgbXFaxve3Dv8K8sUEXqblZxanIgHGxqhzWkEi4zqcZijoE%2FuJYBtn06eIQY4T2Ny9NMfyuoP2AGBxoVBLrp5NKSjwAQvzigL5FNdYn2Yl89VOpZJzQe76L%2BuoNlJxPOvS82mJyAcHN4b6rO64k1yUe7SCpbxqniBmFD77yslfIIJNMgAGVV%2FUIqEnKEg%2BxM9jt4RbXkV0XdqmHcyGFAY3xOdtkNmaj%2FgzC%2FbpanyARfv5Yd0KcP7WA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM5OmB0dlg Hard to believe that a Spidey so-called "rookie card" like this graded only as a SGC 5.5 would be asking for $1,250 because there must be a ton of them sitting in closets right now.
  18. Well, hopefully you would be referring to these Donruss Marvel Super Heroes cards from 1966 then which might finally go up in value then: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/124596129004?hash=item1d02820cec:g:OLEAAOSwn4tgOCWc Not sure about this eBay listing though since they've already got the complete raw 66-card set listed for a BIN price of only $13,200.
  19. Yes, just might be for a regular collector, but probably not so much for the CGC label chaser who actually might not want either. But most definitely not the CGC 9.4 graded copy for themself as there's another 11 copies in higher graded condition than his plus already another whopping 13 copies so far in equivalent CGC 9.4 graded condition.
  20. FTFY And exactly the reason why I don't tend to participate in CL auctions as I absolutely hate their auction format because if you really want to win a particular lot, it requires you to throw in a blind bid at the end because you simply don't know what the other competing and sometimes crazy bidders with their sniping programs are doing at the end. I much prefer the Heritage or even better yet the CC auction format, whereby you are given time (i.e. 3 minutes in CC's case ) to think about the next bid increment and if you really want to hit that bid button or not.
  21. Is this the book you are talking about since it looks like somebody on eBay is trying to sell CGC 9.6 copy for $2,500: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/115492389194?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=706-89093-2056-0&mkcid=2&itemid=115492389194&targetid=1655924344776&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9001544&poi=&campaignid=17297488457&mkgroupid=135567174846&rlsatarget=pla-1655924344776&abcId=9300872&merchantid=592372149&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0oyYBhDGARIsAMZEuMvYU22TjIiQswLJ5mrT_-j8qEhPfV4y1BhFZmVCKVoUXTwmlp-zJIIaAsKrEALw_wcB Since the end of last year, it looks like there's now 5 of these books in CGC 9.8 along with another 6 copies knocking right on its door in CGC 9.6.
  22. Not sure since I don't really tend to follow the SA market, but would we consider some of those selected record breaking sales from the 2011 time period to be outliers, while the ones from this current 2021/22 time period to be part of the normal everyday auction results for these kind of books here?
  23. Well, if it's a 10-pack of the same book, then he's probably trying for the CGC 10-pack grade guarantee special of 1 CGC 10.0, 3 CGC 9.9, and 6 CGC 9.8 that they are talking about over on the General Forum.
  24. CGC announced that they will make an announcement Is that in between all of the Private Signings announcements that they constantly bombard our email boxes with every single hour as proof positive that they are indeed taking steps to eliminate their turanaround times issue? If they do any more of these private signings, they are going to have to hire themselves a real janitor to clean their facilities because this first guy is going to be far too busy "signing in private" to do any cleaning for them.
  25. I am just so glad that I am not the type of collector that has to make these high end expensive purchasing decisions like this one here. I guess I just have to be happy with the copy that I got back in the day and it's all good as long as it doesn't drop below my purchase price point. Then again, if it does, I imagine almost everybody here would be crying an even bigger storm than me.
