  1. I know, right ! So much for the "chain of custody" argument. I bought a Spider-Man book this year from the JSC booth - doing just that. Never even met JSC. Now the "Chain of Custody" people will say "the book never left the business" or some b.s. like that. It's all just random made-up-on-the-fly rules to add a perceived value to the yellow label. The frustrating thing is, CGC breaks their own rules all the time -- but given a situation like this where Alex Ross sold books from his store with COAs -- it just seems less of a "rule break" --- it's more of a "this is okay, because...1 2 and 3 are met..." I had books signed by Neal Adams for years at conventions -- then I found out the Neal Adams store could submit books to CGC and I didn't have to wait for signing events or witnessed signings etc. So I literally sent a decade worth of signed books to the NA store - they sent them in to CGC. BAM! done. I had signed NA books submitted by his store AFTER he died. Crazy! But we can't submit COA Alex Ross books to CGC....?! Dumb
  2. I think you're missing my point deliberately - because you've drunk the CGC yellow KoolAid. Alex Ross, like many many others, is authorized to witness their own signature. By having Alex look at a COA accompanied book from his store -- he's not simply verifying the signature as authentic -- the COA does that -- he's verifying that he WITNESSED it. Nothing else factors in. If I'm at a convention and I have a witness with me when a book gets signed, it gets put into a bag and sealed. Lets suppose one book in my stack gets missed. Simple human error. So I present my books to the CGC booth later in the day and we discover one book not bagged. CGC would call the witness over and he'd verify he was the witness for that signing and all is good. The heavens don't crack open and start raining blood - CGC simply knows it's all legit and the integrity of their Yellow Label brand is intact. The same here. COA accompanied books sent to artists/writers who CGC have authorized to witness their own signature - should be allowed.
  3. But the completely made up "chain of custody" is indeed protected by the enclosed coa WHEN Alex Ross verifies the signature of the ARStore book is his. Alex not verifying his own signature accompanied by his own COA in the affirmative completely invalidates all COAs he's ever sold. The YELLOW LABEL is for a "witnessed" signature - and since Ross is allowed to witness his own signature -- AR Store Book + AR self witnessed Signature + COA + Alex Ross @ CGC event verifying = Everything Is Okay with the CGC Police and their completely made up rules they bend and flex all the time. CGC and Alex Ross are just leaving money on the table by not allowing this. For Alex - its a double cash grab. He got money for the original Store book signature and now he gets it again and doesn't even have to sign the book. It'd be funny to submit one to get signed -- the Yellow Label with a Green Qualified banner --- "SIGNED BY ALEX ROSS ON date AND NAME 'ALEX ROSS" WRITTEN ON COVER IN IDENTICAL MANNER TO ALEX ROSS' WITNESSED SIGNATURE ACCOMPANIED BY COA FROM ALEX ROSS" LOL
  4. Q to CGC -- so ALEX ROSS is authorized by CGC to witness his own signature (and submit books to get slabbed then sell at his store) -- can we submit books to this CGC signing event that Alex Ross signed & sold through his store with a COA or sold through Dynamic Forces etc with a COA ? It just seems counter intuitive that ARoss can sign a stack of books while watching television in his loungeroom, have one of his art agents, or other assistants pack and mail the books to CGC for slabbing - and yet something the consumer of Alex Ross' own online store has paid a premium for (a certified signature with a COA) - can't find a way to be "verified / witnessed" at the CGC signing.and have these books slabbed. I'm not talking about random books signed at a convention etc -- just the books signed by Ross, with a COA, that Ross charged a premium for at retail. A simple note on the yellow label "signature with COA - VERIFIED by Alex Ross on date" would maintain the integrity of the Signature Series program.
  5. Yeah -- FANTASTIC cover and wrap around.!!
  6. I have several books bought direct from the ALEX ROSS store with COAs. I wish CGC would do a special YELLOW "verified in-person by Alex Ross" label for this event, too -- be great to have Sig Series for books bought direct from the ARStore over the years.
  7. I hoping this FIRST signing is a sign of things to come. I can't afford to send everything I want signed LOL First grab for me is: SDCC Batman 125 sketch cover Detective 1,000 Shadows cover Uncanny X-Men 500 Green Lantern 1 Timeless Captain America (regular) Timeless Daredevil (regular) for my son -- his initials are DD in close for alternates: JSA Shazam cover (the black covers) JSA Black Adam JSA Green Lantern JSA Flash Captain Marvel 1 sketch cover Star Wars 1 (the regular cover, I missed out on the homage) Then there's the GOTG 3000 covers, the JUSTICE covers, his Captain America run of covers, etc etc etc --- somebody stop me !!!!
  8. Celebrities at HUGH's level often support numerous charities. Often public events like these, unless under a banner for ONE distinct host charity, are probably servicing several charities Jackman supports. The funds are often funneled through a foundation with public filings at tax time so people can see the funds actually made it to charity - less admin fees, foundation salaries and other expenses etc.
  9. Yeah == CGC should offer a "signed" custom label for all their signings. It's just additional revenue for them and the person signing.
  10. I was lucky to buy one of the CBLDF JLA/AVENGERS tpb. I phone CGC to see what was the largest/thickest slab they could do and the lady who answered didn't really have an answer. This was months ago - but I just saw a listing for an auction of a CGC 9.8 of this tpb but had no actual pictures of the item. So searching the cgc census - I find what looks like a listing. What does this cost? How do I submit for this? Is it all TPBs?
  11. Mail call !!! TBagged x 5 bummer at least a color change for a few books very happy with the 9.0 ASM, but bummer on the 9.6 - the tiniest of corner tears barely 1mm Oh well
  12. Very disappointed only Nth American games can be submitted. I've got a beautiful sealed MK GOLD Dreamcast but it's a Pal (Australian) release.
  13. I would get the LIMITED series Wolverine #1 signed. Getting an ACTOR signature isn't always a value increasing proposition - but it definitely makes a cool display item. (same logic applied to the Wolverine #1 (2013))
  14. Mine have been flagged at RECEIVED AT CCS since 10/4
  15. Yeah -- that's 100% definitely a "T O O D" funny Got T-Bagged and Double Holed
  16. Yeah - John Byrne is a unique guy. I personally know of how awesome he can be for his fans - but his general persona is not so warm and fuzzy. Things he thinks are funny, his fans don't - like his rubber stamp signature - he literally had his signature made into a runner stamp and if you presented him a "reprint" book to get signed, he would stamp it saying "reprint signature for a reprint book". Funny to him - but what a fkn move to the fan who has waited to meet their favorite artist etc. At the same time I have personal first hand knowledge of stories of how generous and gracious he is --- but those other stories just outweigh the great ones. I feel bad for him in a way. Guys like George Perez were simply adored by fans - John Byrne could be the biggest of the big right now at conventions -- instead he's a footnote.
  17. Don't get me wrong -- he's "sold out" when he's there -- but I didn't need to sleep out to get tickets -- I just made it the first stop of the morning as doors opened. I'm from Australia and I've been taking my son to SDCC since 2005 (he was 8) - this past year was the first year I've gone without him (that really sucked) -- but I was live streaming him as I lined up for Todd - and grabbed Todd as he walked by -- Todd was so awesome, he stopped and gave my son a few moments or live time saying "g'day" to him. One of my friends got pictures of the whole thing going down -- it was a very cool fan moment. So my advice is just to prioritize getting Todd tickets at whatever con - and you should be fine without much hassle.
  18. At SDCC this year I saw him each day to get autographs etc -- it was super easy - just had a long line, even if a ticketed event it was easy to get tickets. He's a great guy in-person too -- he knows he's considered a rock-star but he does his best to make every fan interaction genuine. Super nice guy. I wish they were all like him.
  19. I submitted TWO packages for this. One is opened and I’ve been charged AFTER the cancellation announcement. WTF?! I emailed asking for the charge to be refunded I got told to hit the street it’s likely criminal to charge for services you’re aware will never be rendered No difference than my taking your money today for tickets to a Prince concert Fraud! the 2nd package arrived on 25 Jan to them, their system tracks it as arriving but it’s nowhere to be found. I never got an email about how to proceed- I found out here on the chat board. I emailed a week ago with instructions on proceeding but haven’t heard anything I’m in Australia. It’s really frustrating. Especially since it’s the same experience for everyone. Why doesn’t cgc hire more (or better) customer service people?
  20. FOUR (4) covers !! A quad cover. I was really really hoping the interior cover would get a 9.9 or a 10 - but I'm thrilled with the 9.8 A shame it has the newsstand price written on the outer cover, but it reminds me of buying it from the newsagent near my school bus stop and then discovering the cover mistake a home that night. Signed recently by the wonderful George Perez.
  21. All ,my JIM LEE and GEORGE PEREZ books are now at QC stage. Some have been at that stage for weeks. I'm hoping for a Xmas Miracle -- but my letters to Santa have been going undeliverable since I moved out of my Parents house....dunno why....
  22. Yeah -- like most of us -- mine since July 7th. So nearly 4 months there and if the signing actually does happen next week -- then we're supposed to allow 6 more weeks for grading and slabbing -- so hopefully we will hear something by the week of Christmas. My xmas gift will likely be 8.5s for what I'm hoping are 9.8 books
  23. Facebook site says this signing is supposed to happen next week..... stay tuned...
  24. So unprofessional. I understand trying to keep value in your Yellow Label - but this sort of delay with complete radio silence is just poor. However, Jim Lee used to be a great guy with fan service -- but over the past 10 years he's become a real primadonna about a lot of things - I can totally imagine where the delays aren't a CGC mistake. I mean, we all get old and grumpy, so I understand that too -- but to leave hundreds of fans hanging like this...just poor on both CGC and JIM LEE. I don't like how CGC took our money in advance of this actually happening. They must have known it was delayed.
