  1. Oh yah. Wonder Woman 1984 getting shifted today confirmed it opened some eyes for sure.
  2. With COVID and people being very selective when and where entertainment takes place, I'm not sure small production theater releases are going to get a massive reaction. Or did you reflect on that with this question?
  3. It's true he will debate a position to the death. Which with Captain Marvel has annoyed a few steady fans. Attributing his position to anti-feminism is a debate crutch. Heal thyself!
  4. Wow! This film seems to have hurdles o'plenty. Yet Disney+ is reporting very strong subscriptions due to it. Exclusive: China bars media coverage of Disney's 'Mulan' after Xinjiang backlash - sources
  5. "Time is the mind-killer, not fear. It leads to forgetfulness and confusion. I'm confused already who I am. Where I am. Why are my pants wet?"
  6. Which is pretty sad when you consider how fast theaters started posting videos of much stronger cleaning practices. Like they woke up once the bottom line took a significant hit. Pre-COVID: Extreme cleaning COVID: Disinfectant sprayers and stronger air filters.
  7. I never realized that. I wonder how the film would have turned out under his earlier directing days.
  8. I started watching the show last night and 4 episodes I was surprised it actually all comes together. To include how the two coaches play off of one another.
  9. With this one remember Disney executives purposely sabotaged the film to spite outgoing executives that originally sponsored the film. John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood (2012) But even with that, it was a fun film. Just purposely mistitled to make it generic, not much effort invested in marketing and spliced together so it was a final film. Being a first trailer not sure if we can fully judge Dune yet. I look forward to the next trailer for sure.
  10. I know it feels like something meaningful. Especially since it is a focus on quantity versus substance. But as Finn moved forward in the follow-on films, his impact to the story diminished. Even Boba Fett only needed 5 minutes in across the original trilogy to become a classic character. Extensive screen time doesn't equal meaningful use.
  11. 'Over-marketed'? Please explain what you assume here. But involved in the key marketing releases to ramp up the character - you better believe it. Disney even did motion posters of all the key characters to build excitement, and Finn was one of those characters used (image I used earlier doesn't do it credit). If he was going to be a sideliner over time, why would you push his image so much? And doing articles about the new diversity of Disney/Star Wars?
  12. I could see that. Especially if you have read the books (and someone like you, probably more than once), watched the movie and SYFY films and know all the details in and out. So seeing a potential rehashing of the same content could feel played out or appeasing fans. But for me, I am seeing a lot of promise. Including appropriate portrayals of key characters and honoring much of the source in a very short first trailer. Now where it goes from there is the real win. Hopefully it meets and exceeds expectations.
  13. I think you may want to watch The Princess Bride. There's a fellow you could learn from. And I don't post that to mock you. Though you attempt through this thread to take offense and blow this up if someone tries to share why you may be misunderstanding the intent. More than once you have made it about the wrong focus. So when you were asked about your original assumption, you moved on to a different focus (who Boyega compared to). Yet you didn't address your mistaken original assumptions. You assumed Boyega thought he was going to be the main star of the entire franchise (he never says that), and that he assumed this because of his race (again your assumption Boyega thought black actor, guaranteed main star). That is not what the interview implied. Reading it like anyone not wrapped up in any racial bias or even class bias (the rich dude is complaining), it is clear he felt key minority roles were built up and then tossed to the side. Like it opened the door for the new franchise phase, and then were thrown aside like window dressing. ANSWER THAT FIRST since it was your assumptions - your words.
  14. I deflect? You blew it up with he was declaring he wanted to be Star Wars's MAIN CHARACTER. How is that deflecting? I think you moved the goalpost once you realized your assumption jumped the gun. The article makes it that clear what he said.
  15. I didn't realize Pink Floyd was originally contracted to do the soundtrack for Jodorowsky's Dune which was never developed. I guess they were honoring that history.
  16. Does it appear from the marketing message Finn was destined for... ...filling space on the screen but not a deeper impact to the direction? It's not like they didn't use him to pull in a minority audience.
  17. Seriously! Because whatever has you so fired up over this with assumptions you are throwing things out there like he wanted to be the MAIN STAR. Now that we got you back to ground closer, glad at least we got you focused on the real details: comparing to his co-stars. Which what I am reading in the details was concerns how the lead Caucasian characters seemed to receive better treatment than the minority stars. Is there any arguing that point? Both Boyega and Kelly Tran got sidelined after their big introduction. And also seriously, JJ Abrams that was initially planning this entire new phase in the franchise made it clear it was about diversity. Even the Force Awakens posters made it clear Boyega was going to play a big part in this universe - not a stormtrooper janitor. Which is how they treated his role afterwards. Seriously!
  18. What do you think since originally you assumed Boyega wanted top billing? It sounds like maybe you realized that was a mistaken assumption.
