  1. Charlton after the code came in, later revived the title, This Magazine Is Haunted. Ditko did three more covers for them.

  3. Ditko is certainly one of the Founding Fathers of Marvel Comics and his contributions to the medium are huge.

That being said, and with all due respect, does everybody posting in and reading this thread really LIKE his artwork? I never cared for it myself...give me Adams or Wrightson any day! (shrug)

Steve Ditko is my favorite artist. His work from the early period of his career for Charlton is, IMO, his best. Take a look at these covers.

  4. Not new this week but I just scanned it to photobucket. Here's an Infantno pencil drawing submitted to Applause for approval as the art on a mug they were going to market. It was rejected, so, it's unpublished in any form.

After adjustments to the original pencil by Infantino, inks were done by Mike Decarlo and re-submitted to Applause. Again, it was eventually rejected for use. So, once again it is unpublished in any form.

  5. My first posting in Golden Age only. Three pre-code Black Magic comics featuring Simon/Kirby on the covers and some of Steve Ditko's first interior work.

Very bizarre Kirby covers! (thumbs u

The Black Magic 29 is very cool. Is this an adaptation of a Ray Bradbury story, or did EC do some type of story similar to this? I know I have seen this premise before.

    Ken

No, it's not a Bradbury adaptation. The woman is a disfigured "freak" who wears a full body suit to hide her hideous appearance. Her paramour actually kills her in the story when he stumbles to her secret.
