I've mentioned this story before, but here goes. I love Neal Adams Batman bronze books, so I had to meet him, and get an autograph. I paid for his sketch book so he would sign it, talked to him on how he was a big influence on my art aspirations. He just up and yeah yeah yeah, this sketch book will be up on Ebay soon. I said no I dont sell at all, sure! I was kind of disheartened by his rude reply. I still have the sketch book too.

Frazetta sure is impressive. The Warren horror books are truly an underrated part of the comic book medium. There is so much great art , and stories. I can't imagine anyone not loving these books.

There is a happy medium here. A 2 dollar book in a long box I wouldn't expect a seller to allow a book to be inspected, but if I want that 5K book? I'm inspecting it or a seller loses a sale.

I also agree that that the Annual #14 IS Gambits actual first appearance.

Or how long would take! Let's just say not long.

There's a simple answer this question. Just don't buy from anyone that won't let you inspect the book. Or you could buy from someone who is reputable, from a chosen few on the boards.
