  1. Wow, the books some of you have are amazing (pardon the very bad pun)!

I've never thought of completing a run of Amazing Spider-Man, but now I'm thinking of just getting certain key issues. I have Amazing Fantasy #15 (it's in rough shape, but it's the holy grail of my collection) and that's about it for early issues.

I just bought Amazing Spider-Man #408 (white cover variant) along with Sensational Spider-Man #1 (white cover variant)....now I'm trying to search for the other two to complete the set...but this thread has me thinking I should hunt for older issues as well (Amazing Spider-Man #1 would be awesome to have).

Welcome mate. If you've got an AF 15 you've got a helluva start! :applause:

    Welcome to the boards :applause:

  2. Haven't posted a new book in awhile, but this just came in the mail today...

Glad it got there safe and sound. (thumbs u

Dang my man, you gave up a white page beauty like this :screwy:

Yes, it was indeed a very nice copy. But I don't really collect Spideys anymore....I just sell them to fuel my Golden Age collection. Besides, when you've owned a dozen or so NM copies of a particular book, selling another one is no big deal....

You are in fact a God among men (worship)

  3. I had three express books finally switch from verified to graded on Friday. Once they return I will post them.....until then, I will say that one of them is now a top census mo-fo. And no, it is not Rocket Racoon or Skateman. lol

Is it a House of Secrets #92? :gossip:

  4. once i pick up that IM 55 and ASM 129....ill find a nice xmen 94 again, hero for hires 1 and i think thats about it from what i can remember....oh and a 1st app Blade....i would like to also add that then i think im pretty much done

How about Conan #1,Green Lantern #76House of Secrets #92 or do you already have these? (shrug)

  5. Wow, I had no idea WW #32 was going for so much! I bought mine for $200 or so on eBay a few years ago (it was RAW though).

If this isn't the proper spot to ask this just ignore the question. I can't decide if I want to keep this book or not. I like the book but I am thinking I could get a decent copy of a silver age key (obviously in a much lower grade) in a trade. I do like the book but maybe I would just be as happy with a 9.4.

Any opinions? What would be a reasonable trade for this book?

I can't tell you what might be a good trade, but if you think you'd be as happy with a lower grade copy, then go for it. The high grades get such a premium that you should do pretty well. This is just me, but if I were you I'd cash in on the 9.6, get me a 9.0 or even an 8.5, and dip into some SA goodness with the remainder.

If it were me I would keep the book knowing I had the highest census book, and that it's proudly in my collection 2c

  6. I am pretty sure I chronicled my search for about the last year or so, for a nice VF or better SC 22... I am, by my nature, a DC man, and when it came to SA keys, I was just more drawn to sc 22 than sc 4 (likely for affordability)...

in my search, I noticed a TON of fr to g/vg copies, but didn't see all that many vg or better copies for sale... so, as my personal search continued, I started picking up any nice vg or better copy (speculating, if you will)... and, well, that part of the story is fairly well chronicled here on the boards (I think I bought and subsequently sold about 14+ copies)...

what also has been alluded to, was that I finally was able to procure that VF copy I was after... I paid STRONG for it, but I felt it was a book that had no place to go but up and gosh darnit, I had been making offers on this copy for dern near a year (each offer higher than the last)...there always seems to be a point at which a "sale" will happen

I had the book pressed and was prepared to send to CGC... today, I sold it for a sum of money that, well, really boggles my mind...

it is no secret that any book I collect or own, I will make available (at the right price)... for me, collecting is as much about the hunt and pursuit, as the acquisition... I applaud those that can hang onto books forever, but when you spend the kind of money some do on certain books, well...you have to realize they are a tangible asset...

with this sale, I no longer am a member of the sc 22 club, but I hope to be again soon :wishluck:

    Congrats on the sale.

The buyer must really know his grading. It would be difficult for me to ever buy a book of such worth unslabbed for fear of it coming back a much lower grade than expected or even worse PLOD.

Did you attach any sort of "guarantee" to the book?

It's also a trust issue.I would buy from Rick because I trust him as a person, and his grading skills.Congrats on the sale :applause:
