  1. Hi Jo Seph. I am very glad that Dillon is communicating with you and attempting to work something out. I just felt I needed to add in my 2cents on this whole situation because I think it speaks to how a lot of boardies have been feeling lately. The boards are not eBay or Comiclink or some other method of buying or selling books. It is a community, Some people actually become friends and like to talk/hang out. We all share a wonderful common thread, comics.

Recently there has been a rash of issues where people just pop up and start trying to "dump" books. This mentality is not conducive to a healthy community. People come in, get their money, and move on. They don't care if the book arrives safely, if there is a problem, or how to make the next recipient of the book happy with their purchase. I believe that most boardies feel that they can get that kind of sale on eBay or at a crappy LCS.

I won't speak for other boardies on this but for me personally it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Dillon was more concerned about getting paid then waiting to follow up with you and try to get the situation resolved. It was the speed of the reposting which gives the feel that he does not care about a good sale and transaction but rather just wants his money. Getting to a resolution took weeks and really only started when the P-List tar and feather brigade started.

For Dillon, we are not expecting perfection. Everyone makes mistakes. Hell I screwed up a few days ago. I sold a bunch of ASM slabs and was heading to Portugal for a week. I thought I sent out all my slabs before leaving but apparently missed one. A couple of days ago I got a PM asking what was up with the slab. I immediately contacted the buyer and explained the situation (I believe my exact words were "I am so sorry, I *spoon*ed up big time on this. I will get it to you tomorrow" I then overnighted the book to him the next day at my cost because I felt horrible that he had paid for a book he hadn't received after waiting 2 weeks for. In this case it wasn't about money (I spent 1/4 of the purchase price getting him the book) it was about making sure that I fixed a mistake and making the buyer happy (who has assured me he is quite happy)

I know you probably feel like everyone is ganging up on you right now but realize that the people here view this as a community and when a person "messes" with a member of the community, we take it personally as an affront to ourselves (Not sure if you were in a fraternity in college but I was, and yes this is the reason why we have terms like "rollout" because when someone messes with one member of the fraternity, they are messing with the whole fraternity.) The best thing to do is to take your lumps and I am sure most people will give you a second chance, I know I will if you are upfront about what happened and are really interested in making amends to Jo Seph, not to get back in our good graces but instead to fix a bad situation. Because at the end of the day, thats what this community wants and needs, people who want to be part of the community and make it better.

Ok everyone, sorry for the long rant but I needed to share my opinion of this whole situation (which I watched from the beginning as I was in that original sale thread, one of the first I was in.)

Or in short: Friends are more important than money.

Thanks for this. Sometimes I wish the boards had a character count like twitter. lol

More people should utilize the TL;DR

  2. I can confirm that Dillon has refunded me the full amount.

As I recently found out, he has gone through some tough times lately and I will give forgive him for the lack of communication and confusion.

He has tried to do everything to fix the wrongs and I am satisfied as to how this turned out. I hope he learns for future transactions that communication is key.

Hopefully we can all show a little compassion as I think everyone deserves a second chance.

Thanks again mate and hope it all works out for you.

  3. I was happy with the money I received cause I did not want to go through the whole trouble of fighting for the remaining money but seeing as Dillon is eager to restore his reputation, I have messaged him to see if we can work out an agreement.

If he agrees to do the right thing truly then ill be happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on this transaction. We shall see.

  4. I know it has been discussed before, but I believe the only way to address all these issues is with the introduction of feedback threads opposed to Kudos thread.

If someone has a bad experience then why should they not let others on the board not know to save them from similar situations. I did not know that ones kudos thread could not be trusted when I went ahead with my last purchase. It's not so easy for the more casual boardies to stay up to date with these probation threads etc.

Sure people can abuse possible feedback threads but the same can be said for the Kudos thread, with mates posting bogus kudos messages. The feedback threads will have strict rules and obviously be moderated (however little moderation occurs, nonetheless).

That's my 2c on the topic. It's probably been done to death but just shows there needs to be a change.

  5. Im grateful for Dillon for the refund but his story does not make sense.

    1) bluehawaii buys the book from longdillon 3 weeks ago after the book apparently is sent back for non-delivery.

    2) I receive a message from dillon on the 22nd of April, to give it a few more days to see if the book arrives.

I was never informed that the book was shipped back to him until today when he sent the refund.

It all seems a bit iffy to me but I'm glad its over.

  6. In hindsight I was stupid not to question the others who have purchased from him if he did have PayPal or not.

As I saw he had a very positive kudos thread, I felt like I could trust him. I have used WU before on this board when dealing with keys and all were perfect.

    In summary, I'm an insufficiently_thoughtful_person.

  7. An update on the JIM 83 saga.

The last message I got from Dillon was on the 22nd of April.

Give it a few more days, Ill initiate a paypoal funds transfer and if nothing Ill issue you a refund via paypal. Ill check at the post office tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Still no sign of the book and my messages since the 22nd are still unread.

  8. Did you get your book yet Joseph?

Its odd as hell that others received their books but yet you haven't and he's apparently refusing to provide you tracking. Between that and the fact he asked you to use WU not PP when others paid via PP is very, VERY suspicious.

Sorry man, i hope you get your book or money back :wishluck:

Still nothing. I confronted the seller regarding his statement that he did not have PayPal and he said he got it after I paid for the book. It is frustrating and I have given up on ever receiving the book. I guess this is a harsh lesson for me to not even trust the Kudos threads on these boards.

  9. User said he never had PayPal. I offered to pay via WU since he had a positive kudos thread.

That's why paying with WU is always a crapshoot.

Did you contact other buyers in his thread and see if they recieved their books?

All said they received their books in reasonable times, that's why I'm more confused.

  10. Purchased a comic from longdillon1 and paid in full on the 28th of February.

Received a reply to my messages around once a week. The payment was picked up fine via WU and seller acknowledged picking up the payment. Said he will ship on Monday Mar 11 2013.

Still no explicit confirmation that he shipped the book to me.

I propose placing him on the probation list if I do not get a reply within a week or the book does not arrive within the same time.
