  1. Once upon a time I was a young 32 year old buying his first GA comics. Now I am preparing to turn......... 40
  2. I don't think it's a matter of trying to bring them back as properly usher in the next group. I will finally be in position to attend more shows this year, and plan to stay active. I am very sorry to hear you have had a rough time, you have a very good reputation for being a solid guy, so I hope things improve for you. I sent Brian a text this morning, so he is still around, just not on here as much I suppose. This place has been here through some of the best times of my life, and I shared those moments with many people here, it should always be a place to escape and just geek out with fellow comic collectors.
  3. @goldust40 I think it is time the community building was done again. The reason these boards were so great was the sense of community by a fairly large group of people, the forum get together /dinners at the shows have always been a high point and have allowed many newer members to have more of a relationship with some of the more seasoned veterans. I miss the days of Arex, Chromuim, Hesdeadjim, flamingtelepath, foolkiller, etc posting more and engaging in conversations. I took my share of time away as well. But there are so many great people here it seems like a shame to let the place slowly fade away, or lose the luster of a great community dedicated to the hobby of collecting comics.
  4. Yes to all of this, add in 20 members drinking too much.
  5. You have not witnessed the true Friday threads.
  6. Don't act like you don't. Just stop pretending to be anything other than what you are... A pervert who likes a good smack across the face with a fish.
  7. Just tagged him on facebook. I need to get some Canadian chocolate from him anyways
  8. The reason sales do not do well anymore goes back to my response. If you cant flip it, they don't want it. I miss the old Friday/Saturday night threads of guys like FT selling off pages upon pages of nice HG non key issues for good prices. But once the new regime made it's way in it became harder and harder to move those books as the boards have been molded to a place to recycle keys, and forget ever getting a deal, if something reasonable does come along it is bought and put up on Ebay the same day it arrives in the mail. There simply just aren't many collectors left here. And don't get me wrong, I sell comics non stop, but I have never abused the community the way some of these guys do.
  9. Admittedly, I do not read aquaman. But I do plan to sit down and read Vs #1 from Image tonight. Those other places... they hurt my head.
  10. I am funny as heck. Only took you nearly a decade to catch on? Damn
  11. Keep in touch leading up. I am seeing who else may be interested in a little meet and greet.
  12. Facebook is friendlier? sheeeeeeeeeet those pages can be ruthless 50% insufficiently_thoughtful_person, 45% window licker. 5% people like me who just sit back and shake their head.
  13. The truth is that this has become nothing more than a business venture for more than 50% of the members and if they aren't making money off you, than what good are you? It has been evident by the trends in the FS forums for the past 7 years. So many of the "members" are just leeches. And then there are members like me who just like to chat with fellow collectors, whack the hornets nest, and have actual conversations. Oh and make jokes about @lizards2 and @porcupine48
  14. Saving my poly bagged set with each of the available cards is finally going to pay off? I was a genius!
  15. Anything that reminds you of Nik is worth it's weight in gold. I wasn't super close to him, we chatted, met up a few times at conventions. But he was by FAR one of the best forum members we ever had, and one of the best friends a lot of these guys could have asked for. That being said, there are ups and downs here and guys like you are what make the hobby fun.
  16. This room looks like it smells like cigarettes, cats, dirty hair, and desperation. I really don't know how you guys do this stuff.
  17. Anything under $9.00, unless it's a hot book. The reason is simple, leave some gems in the dollar boxes and people will dig through for a half hour and add 15 impulse buys, and a few decent books. It makes everyone happier.
