I have every copy of the card in every language (including proofs), but they're on display elsewhere. Yes those are the originals to Signet and Locket. You can see my art collection here: https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=107147

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...

2 more $3K+ showings for X-Men 129. It appears this is the new norm for this book, even for not so nicely presenting copies. https://www.ebay.com/itm/X-MEN-129-CGC-9-8-WP-NEWSSTAND-RARE-1st-KITTY-PRYDE-EMMA-FROST-SEBASTIAN-SHAW-/254874527700?nma=true&si=rbarKKFBKJNLc5Bnz9TkXCU8d8M%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Men-129-1980-CGC-9-8-1st-Appearance-of-Kitty-Pride-Emma-Frost-Seb-Shaw-/174647538416?nma=true&si=rbarKKFBKJNLc5Bnz9TkXCU8d8M%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -

$3840. Essentially doubled in price in the past 2 months. https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/superhero/x-men-129-marvel-1980-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/122107-15636.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116 -
I have some Jeff Easley transfer sketches from the 2019 Flair set available. They're pretty rough because he used them to transfer the pencils from the paper to the painting surface. Still very cool process art.

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
JesterSB replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
It either means the 9.8 is overpriced (unlikely since 3 sold very quickly at that price), or 9.6s are underpriced, and will also disappear shortly from the supply. I had been looking for this book in 9.8 for a couple months and none were available. I snagged one ~$2400 once these sales happened. -
Julie also mentioned that her Clone from Alpha sold privately for $120K at some point (she didn't sell it for that, a private collector did). Not proof, but strong evidence of a 6 figure sale.

As much as the power of the card matters in MtG art, there actually ARE other factors. I own a bunch of pieces that are blah cards, but beautiful art, and not cheap to purchase. The name of the artist DOES matter too. As does nostalgia.
-
It's definitely higher than I thought it would go for, but it is a nicer Phil piece. The Foglios definitely have a big following outside of MTG, and their pieces were all sold long ago, so they are very rare to come up for auction. Also, bitcoin.
-
But she's evolved as an artist a LOT since then. The art on the original Force of Will would be mostly forgettable on a non-iconic card. The arts for these Planeswalkers are really amazing, and traditionally painted PWer art is few and far between, adding another premium.
-
I wouldn't say that Force of Will has anything to do with this. Terese has a very distinct style that is really appealing to a lot of collectors. I would love to own a Nielsen, but in general her cards don't fit my collection, or are out of my price range.
