  1. These are pics of the pinched corner when it first came back before sending back in for mechanical error>
  2. Hello.....just got my ASM 300 mechanical error back and does it need to go back again? The corner doesn't look like it's 100% closed and if I rotate the slab upside down, the inner well actually moves a bit (not the comic in the well....but the entire well moves). Also.....I was told they should press the corner that was pinched in the inner well when I got it back the first time. The bend from being pinched is still there. Is there any way to find out if the book was actually pressed or not?? Somehow I don't think this would grade a 9.4 if this were a fresh submission. I was told there would be some communication during the mechanical error process but I never heard from anyone at CGC regarding what was going on with the book. Did they just crack the slab, re-slab it, and send it back out without addressing the pinched corner??
  3. Hello….I have a quick question about mechanical error returns. Once they have been delivered to CGC, will the tracking number show up as received if entered on the screen to check if a tracking number has been received? I had a mechanical error return that shows on FedEx’s tracking as delivered yesterday in the morning but if I enter the same tracking number on CGC’s site, it says it either has not been delivered or has not been scanned. I thought that was kind of strange as I had another book that got delivered yesterday for the Garth Ennius signing and if I enter that number on CGC’s site, it shows as received and in storage. It also shows as scheduled for grading already under my submissions. Any info you can share is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Thanks! That was exactly what I needed to know. On writing "BOOK DAMAGED IN SHIPPING-PINCHED INNER WELL- BLB"…..should it say “DAMAGED IN SHIPPING” even though it appears to have happened in the encapsulation process (and not shipping) rather than simply writing“BOOK DAMAGED-PINCHED INNER WELL-BLB”? Thanks again for your help.
  5. Thanks for the reply…..I appreciate the help. This is my first mechanical defect return. When I go into submit the book via mechanical defect, do I declare the value of the book for insurance purposes just as submitting a book normally? Also….do I need to request the book be inspected for damage or will that be done automatically? I do understand there is always a danger of a book getting damaged in a private signing but the lower right corner of this book is actually pinched in the seam of the inner sleeve which looks to have caused that bend or crease on the back of the cover where it’s caught in the seam. Once the book is inspected for damage, will someone from CGC contact me with options on how to proceed or what will happen next? Thanks again for your help with my book….I really do appreciate it.
  6. Hello..... I just received my books back from the McFarlane signing and the case on my ASM 300 is cracked in the corner. On top of that, the book is grossly uncentered in the inner sleeve to the point where the lower right corner appears pinched in the seam which looks to have caused a crease in the cover corner that was not there. The last picture shows the misalignment in the inner sleeve from the backside along with the crease it appears to have caused. Do I return it for a mechanical defect submission and...1-What is the turnaround time a mechanical defect return, 2-Will it have the same grade or will the grade change as it looks like the placement in the inner sleeve damaged the corner (if not....will I what kind of compensation will I receive for the damage to the book?), 3-I will be in Tampa, FL next week for the Florida State Fair for 2 weeks. Can I return the book in person rather than mailing it back through FedEx? Currently not happy about the situation to say the least!
  7. Thanks for the reply. How is it handled if a Marvel card is submitted that is sign by the creator? Is it counted as a defect or does it have a qualified label similar to comics with an unverified signature? Thanks!
  8. Hello......does CGC Trading cards grade and certify the Coca-Cola gold cards from their non sports trading card series back in the 90's (the cards that were obtained by sending in a randomly packed trade card that they sent you a card with 1 gram of 24k gold on it in return)? Thanks, Jim
  9. Thanks for the reply. Tracking now shows it is out for delivery today by 7pm. I was worried with the storm blowing through, deliveries would be shut down by UPS. Hopefully it does indeed get delivered today.
  10. Hello…..I submitted 3 books for the Todd McFarlane private signing and they were shipped via UPS 2 day air. They are supposed to be there tomorrow by 7pm but tracking now says they may be delayed due to the weather. What happens if they arrive after the deadline of November 11th? Thanks in advance for any information you can share.
