    Hi Everyone,

I am putting together my first submission for the Sig Series with Todd McFarlane.

Quick question: Should I add a backing board behind the front cover to prevent the signature from imprinting the book's pages?

Any help / suggestions are appreciated.

@DavidNL No, that is not necessary as the ink doesn't go through the front cover. Back when people used to have the first page signed instead of the cover, you did see bleed-through on the other side when a Sharpie was used but when the cover is signed you don't. Also, in case you didn't know, CGC asks that you put your books in "window" bags. Here is a thread which explains how to do it:

  4. Hey guys,

I am looking to get a consensus on what the grade of this copy of Detective Comics #400 is. There is an '8' written on the first page in green ink for some reason. There is also a small, 1/3" tear that goes through two interior pages. I circled in red its location (it's kind of hard to see in the picture). I tried to showcase the flaws as best I could in the photos.

Thanks a lot for your time!

"affects story, but what do you care? it's in plastic, ya knucklehead"

The reason I asked that question is that as shown in Bry's Comics recent video, the "affects story" or "does not affect story" does not appear in the grader's notes as of before the new policy is in effect, it's only on the label. At least, that is the case for the book discussed in the video, a copy of FF #1 (I don't know if that is the case for every book with such a defect). So, if this is removed from the label and is not usually mentioned in the grader's notes, how will a buyer be able to know if a piece missing from a page is just the border or takes out a part of / a whole panel. Here is a link to the video that got me worried about this

Reposting this cause I keep getting asked about it online for nice full picture. Here is a non-photo picture of my World's Finest #3 replacement cover which 'fixes' the issue of Scarecrow not appearing on the cover (though note due to jpeg compression and the forum further compressing the art you won't correctly see all the ben day process dots). Pencils by comic artist Tom Martin, everything else by me (colors/titles, some extra inking over the original etc)

That is so cool, man. Absolutely awesome.
