  1. No. A label is not an "upgrade." And I won't be paying more for a b&w label either (on the other hand, I might for an old label).
  2. There are some raw up for sale right now. You can get the label, I assume, since HA recognises them and they are stamped "checking copy." I thought about bidding on them, but one really belongs in your collection.
  3. Some of the Miller DD choices aren't really single issue stories, but this one is, and IMHO its the best (love the Krigstein homage as well):
  4. I'd guess a Barks Duck or an EC. Maybe FC 386?
  5. At or near the million $ mark, I suspect that a book being the "highest CGC graded" is not that big a factor when other un-certified high grade copies are known to exist. For example, I don't think Hariri was ignorant of the MH Action 1 when he bought the two 9.0 Action 1s. I am sure he (and his advisor Fishler) knew that they were, as you put it, "tied for second." He wasn't paying for the "best copy," he was paying for the "best available copy" (in his case twice) for the foreseeable future. Same was true for the buyers of the CA 9.4 and the AS 8 9.4. Other high grade copies are known, but those were the best available for the foreseeable future. The value of the 9.4 CA 1 would not be greater if the Allentown still remained ungraded, so long as the Allentown was still regarded as the "best known" (which it was long before it was graded).
  6. MH AS 3 is a 9.6. But, anyone know a story that DA sold his AS 3 to Overstreet, got a free ad in the OPG to find a replacement, and ended up scoring a better copy?
  7. The market is volatile and its an art form. I'm ok with moving Batman 1 up above MC 1, but I pesonally think the best MC 1 would go higher than the best Batman 1.
  8. AS 8 9.4 is highest graded. But, the Mile High copy sold in 1995 for $70K. Is that DA's? Or does he have an even better copy?
  9. The best comparable I could find was Batman 1 6.5 for $180k in 2016 versus MC 1 6.0 for $215K in 2017.
  10. I stand corrected! Top 5 most valuable comic books based on actual top prices paid for issues: 1. Action 1 2. AF 15 3. Detective 27 4. AS 8 5. CA 1
  11. Top 5 most valuable comic books based on actual top prices paid for issues: 1. Action 1 2. Detective 27 3. AF 15 4. AS 8 5. CA 1 Top 5 most valuable comic books based on recent pound for pound comparisons of actual prices paid for issues (per Rob's website): 1. Action 1 2. Detective 27 3. Superman 1 4. AS 8 5. MC 1
  12. Wonder Woman > Captain America AS 8 9.4 - $936K in 2017 Cap 1 9.4 - $915K in 2019
  13. GCD indexes the above cited features as being by Moldoff.
  14. Jumbo was an anthology, a variety of genres - not just jungle at that point.
  15. Just noticed something important about the Dell wire racks! This Dell wire rack dates to 1948-1949 because Our Gang ended in 1949 and Herny started in 1948: My rack is a different version that must post-date 1949 because my version does not include the Our Gang and Bugs Bunny line, instead listing Andy Panda and Tom & Jerry on a line, and replacing Woody Woodpecker with Bugs Bunny on the bottom line: And now that I've started looking at these signs, I've found a third version on Hake's:
  16. Rack prices are strong these days, and this price is in line with the auction prices for 1950s racks.
  17. I've already got an immaculate one of these racks, so I feel compelled to let you all know that on eBay there is a very rare and very cool comic rack up for sale for what I think is a reasonable price given its rarity and condition (which is average and cleaning would help with the wire body): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1950s-60s-Comic-Book-Spinner-Rack/254306709293?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D8984ecb4d555442fba055bee8f50edcf%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D254306709293%26itm%3D254306709293%26pg%3D2481888&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A4ebd6bb1-ada0-11e9-9617-74dbd180b9c7|parentrq%3A2121dfa516c0a99b0da5862fff9a487a|iid%3A1
  18. The pics I posted are from the Cgc 9.0 white, but I fully understand why you thought they were of a reprint. That copy’s preservation is unreal!
  19. GCD claims the last page opposite the inside back cover also was by Moldoff. I buy it, looks like same art (see Gehrig and Grissom) and lettering style:
  20. Damn! Cat has the best shirt collection in the world!
  21. Growing up as a comic collector in the 70s and 80s, no one was into new CA comics and everyone was into Batman. There was never a great Silver or bronse CA run you had to have. Batman had Miller, Rogers/Austin, O’Neal/Adams, etc. Yes, Cat etc., there are some great golden age CA covers, but you can get equally great Timely covers on other titles. And the GA Batman covers are also iconic. In the final analysis CA just hasn’t meant as much to comic collectors of the past 50 plus years as Batman and a few movies does not change that. Shoot away.
  22. Yes. Price is in line with original 60s/70s racks, and the originals often have defects. The richie/spidey/supes/archie rack is more 80s, and the prices on those are north of $500.
