  1. I know there was a list of scanners on page 80 of the thread but would it be a good idea to have the first post list slab-compatible scanners by: - OS Compatibility - brand etc Perhaps: HP8300; Win from XP up to 7, Mac from OS10.X? up to OS10.X? Just a thought as the thread is now 82 pages and it would be handy to have an updated list at the top! Also, a tips and tricks list as a sticky at the top? IE: Download Vuescan for better control of scan setting etc. Paging HarveySwick?!
  2. I'm travelling* and all I could find was this crappy Instagram picture I took ages ago. *have better pics but need to post them when I can access them. ** Will also post pic of a Stan Lee signed coverless (with Fedoraman repro cover!) I bought as a reader. *** I think the time to put the 3.5 up for trade/sale is nigh. Keep your eyes peeled!
  3. Picked up a copy of #1 from a local boardie. Time to sell/trade my 4.5 undercopy.
  4. I was somehow compelled to join the club with a CGC3.0 SS. Must have been the 10 cent cover. No prizes for guessing where I picked it up from.
  5. Had several chances to get in the club but always thought of Ant Man as a second-stringer...now the movie madness has kicked this book into high gear!? Books in the lower grade to mid-grades go for as much as ToS 39 and Iron Man is arguably more of a key hero in the Marvel Universe. Thoughts? Bubble? Or is Ant Man truly deserving of his soaring (price) status?
  6. I know the TMNT 1 CGC9.6 comes up rarely. If cash is an issue, the OP could wait till 1 comes up for sale on eBay and immediately list his AF15. BOOM. AF15 sells, he transfers fund for the TMNT and pockets an extra $3k which he can then use to buy a 7.0 TMNT1 undercopy or something. Touche. To further flog this dead horse...I know the TMNT 1 CGC9.6 comes up rarely. But If cash is an issue, the OP could wait till 1 comes up for sale on eBay and immediately list his AF15. BOOM. AF15 sells, he transfers fund for the TMNT and pockets an extra $3k which he can then use to buy a 7.0 TMNT1 undercopy or something.
  7. Yes....... they look heavier than they really are...... Did you also snap up every single page with Edna on it too at the same time? Neat pick up. I honestly don't think the published 127 cover is quite one of the best but will definitely appreciate if Edna turns out to be a major character who lasts as long as say Michonne. .
  8. I dug out the old purchase email chain with Mark (Splashpage)...any guesses as to what this DPS was listed for?
  9. +1 I don't have the pages on hand right now but went through some WD trades and found two pages I remember owning from #10 and #11. They are nothing special: #10 page 19 or 20. Dinner table scene that ends with Glenn perving Carol. #11 is page 11 with Allen sitting on the couch. Any idea what these would be worth? I'll need to dig them out when I get back home!
  10. I have been on CAF quite a few years now. Check my sig for my CAF link.
  11. Have already chimed in on the OA thread but thought I'd post here as well. Have some early large pages (no zombies, one with full cast another with Dale I think and others I can't recall). Will try to find them and post it if people are keen to see them. The other early page (and the last piece of WD art I purchased in 2007) is this one. RIP Laurie and Judith. PS: Anyone think WD #1 issues will appreciate beyond current GPA?
  12. Late to the discussion and haven't gone through all the pages so forgive me if I cover old ground. Anyway, I remember a story about Adlard letting non-Zombie pages go for very little money at shows before he got gallery representation. I think non-zombie pages could be picked up for $50 or less. Ouch. I did manage to pick up some some early Adlard full-size 11 x 17 WD pages as part of a bulk deal. Possibly Pre-Michonne but need to dig them out as I don't even have scans or remember what issues they were from. No zombies on any of them and I turned down the chance to pick up a couple more but still...anyway... Moore was then also selling early pages but he has always asked for big money even when the book wasn't a bonafide hit so I stayed away. If I recall correctly, regular pages were over $500 a piece when Adlard's could be found for $50. Kicking myself now of course. Ahhh, hindsight. I must dig out that price list. In any case, I understand the fascination with zombies but the book has always been about human drama and relationships, survival and such. Zombies are cool but they are a vehicle to advance the core human element of the story. Yet zombie pages have always commanded more $$$ than pages which are arguably more pertinent and core to the series. Then again, the series is called Walking Dead. Where's that Delorean now?? The only page I own with a scan is from #37 and it's a small DPS. That was the last WD OA I got.
  13. Might have graded higher if the area around the top staple hadn't a little pull...
  14. Not sure if that's even possible. Asking prices on Clink for blue 4.0 is around the 7k mark now? Perhaps the buyer was hoping to remove the slight CT and get it to a blue 3.5 or so? Copies of this book seem few and far between. Perhaps owners are hoarding these waiting for new DC movies to actually kick Marvel ? IE: Anything better than the last GL movie . Right now, Marvel is getting movies right. That equals excellent growth for books (Witness ToS 39, AF15, Avengers 1 & 4, JiM 83). And even speculative growth for movies which are in early stages (FF52, ST110 etc). SC4s will come out of the woodwork once a movie is firmed up and soar if the movie is actually good. I just want an affordable (yeah right, I know) copy.
  15. A'right, underbidder on the HA book here! Who beat me to it! 'Fess up! Nice pick-up. Any thoughts on what resto removal would knock the book down to? Amateur will definitely mean scrapping off bits of the cover. Ouch.
  16. New to the debate. As an owner of an AF15 4.0 and 3.5, I wouldn't trade either for TMNT 1 (both bought around the same time as the OP). The Bay movie screen shots I've seen so far make me cringe. And I'm embarrassed to admit I watched the old '90s films too. Double cringe. Sure, the book is rare and that dang black cover makes it hard to find in high grade. But Spidey has been around longer and has had interest re-booted plenty of times. ASM #1 (2014) is the best selling book of the 21st century. Spidey, like Supes and Bats, will remain in pop-culture lore when the TMNT are reduced to a footnote in comic-book history. No contest. But hey, if the OP is happy, good for him!
  17. Psst: tear seal on the BC per http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=131479&Number=7034469#Post7034469 Great looking book! (thumbs u
  18. If I'm not mistaken a .5 recently sold on comic link for a hair under $4k. They do not report to GPA. -J. Ouch. So I trawled through my PMs for old 'nearly there' AF15 deals from a couple of years back. 2008: 1.5 for $1.5k then. 5.5 for $10k. (Also GD+ JiM 83 for $360, GD+ SST 110 for $125 ). 2010: Offered a 1.8 for $2k 2011: Was offered a 2.0 for $2.9k I finally saw through my OA haze and bit the bullet in 2011.
  19. Own a blue label 3.5 (OW), 4.0 (OW) and coverless (signed by Stan Lee, with repro cover) listed on the old thread. Not sure if I have live pics but will look out for it.
  20. Sarcasm not appreciated. It's good to clarify for the n00bs. I'm in no way defending Robojo. Just wanna know specifics of his misdeeds is all. Not everyone spends hours trawling through 50+ page threads to get the low-down on scum. Perhaps should should be a 'sticky' thread with ALL the relevant information (minus all the banter)? Just saying...you guys are all helpful. But as I said, it's ALOT of threads with alot of banter to get to the actual 'heart' of the matter.
  21. I haven't trawled through all 52 pages for this thread. But I was recently alerted to Robojo33 aka Perry Stroud aka DD (?). If so, DD has changed his MO. There's alot of talk about him selling restored books as unrestored. Looking at his current ebay auctions under Robojo33, all RAW books he sells might be overgraded with poor photos but he seems to now declare restoration: http://cgi.ebay.com/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-49-APPT-NM-9-4-RESTORED-/180607440182?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0d0ad536#ht_1354wt_906 He also claims that all raw books have a 'guarantee' against restoration. If it's a PLOD from CGC, he will refund all costs. http://cgi.ebay.com/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-32-NM-NM-9-4-9-6-/170586517539?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b7bfb023#ht_1930wt_906 Still, punishment should be meted out for his past sins.
  22. News flash. Just added! It's a beater but it's still ASM #1 with a Stan sig!
  23. So...one question. Will the bubble burst or prices re-adjust downwards if the movie tanks?
