I just wanted to drop in and say that I read the first trade of Invincible last night and it was pretty good

 

All the talk I see on these boards (e.g. this thread) convinced me to try it.

 

I like the way the characters talk about the conventions of their genre. For example, Mark asking for a more 'iconic' costume, or his dad saying they were about due for a 'team up'.

 

The girl's cute. Is this going to be a will they / won't they for a long time to come?

 

I wonder if we're going to hear his mother's story at some point? I get the feeling she's going to do more than cook them both dinner as the series goes on.

I just read the 2nd trade, and it's really taking off. Great issue where we are introduced to the JLA I mean the Guardians of the Globe. We get a really nice intro to each of these well developed characters in turn and then BAM And he did it!

 

Then the following issue opens with a character muttering 'hurm'. Of course, he would be investigating a case like this

 

Really enjoying it now. I need to pick up a few more.
