  1. An independent comics art day! Two of my favorite independent titles were from Caliber and First comics. These are both pure nostalgia for me. Baker Street 3 p. 4 Guy Davis and Vincent Locke, Caliber. I found Baker Street to be completely novel and wonderful. there was a time when I would race to the comic shop and hope there was a new issue. I would try to get friends interested and would loan out my copies. A punk Sherlock Holmes and so much more. Grimjack 6 p. 16. Timothy Truman, First Comics. I picked up on Grimjack through the back issue bins and couldn't get enough of it when I discovered it in 1989. I also forced them on friends and we dressed up as characters for Halloween. The noir aspects and the corruption of found in Cynosure, left me following John Gaunt through his multiple lives (shush..spoiler). 2. Doctor Strange Art day I won this in the CLINK auction and it fills an important hole in my collection. Paul Smith is widely admired for his work on Doctor Strange but I also feel that Terry Austin is his best inker. Other may have their doubts but this is the page I needed: Doctor Strange 73 p. 17 (Oct. 1985)- The second page is a landmark in the life of Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange quits! Similar to the "Spider-man no more!" sequence, when Roy Thomas was writing Doctor Strange he finished off the storyline by have Doctor Strange quit. An ordinary panel page with unique content drawn by Herb Trimpe. The Incredible Hulk 126 p. 20 (April 1970) The Book of Strange CAF Gallery
  3. Liam Sharp drew and inked a very nice page of Doctor Strange from the Man-thing (1997 series). Still chasing the issue and page number. Book of Strange CAF Gallery
  4. 1966 Strange Tales #143 Nick Fury Story (Stats)- An almost complete Nick Fury story. Pencils: Jack Kirby (layouts); Howard Purcell Inks: Mike Esposito [as M. Demeo]. From the Howard Purcell estate. I think he had these made as reference for stories he worked on. I think I am missing 2 pages from the story (but I have to check). I know I don't have the splash or the full page "Kirby" machine. While stats are just photographs of the original art, they still are wonderful to study the pages. 5. More P. Craig Russell pages (6 and 8) from Marvel Premiere 7 (1973). There is no Doctor Strange on these new pages. These two new pages combine nicely with my page 21 to make a great sequence. Although the pages had multiple inkers the effect of very early PCR pages is seeing a great artist stretch his legs for the first time.
  6. A couple of pages from the destruction of Dracula (via the Darkhold) sequence in Doctor Strange 59-62.(1983) -Dan Green and Terry Austin Doctor Strange 59 p. 14 Doctor Strange 60
  7. Spider-man: Fever -2 pages by the amazing Brendan McCarthy http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1292371 http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1292376
  8. A Frank Brunner time capsule! Back in 1975 Frank Brunner was selling off some of his original art as packages. According to the seller Frank sold 10 of these “packages”. This package #10 was bought in January of 1976. It included not only an original art page, but a layout of another page, a collection of Xeroxes of pencils, a hand-colored copy of a cover, a sketch, and signed copies of Doctor Strange 1-5. A Brunner feast of art and an amazing purchase for this Doctor Strange fan. I am very excited to share the contents of this package: Marvel Premiere #11 page 2. This issue had a 3 page framing sequence done by Brunner. This is one of the few Dr. Strange/Marvel Premiere pages drawn AND inked by Frank Brunner. It has been in a private collection since 1975 so unseen by most until now. mp11p2 Doctor Strange #2 page 6 original layout. I may have a layout from another package since I bought a layout of Dr. Strange #2, page 1 a few years ago and it also has a similar title and signature at the bottom. DrS2p6 5 Xeroxes of his pencils Marvel Premiere #10 p. 2 mp10p2 Doctor Strange #2 p. 26 DS2p26 Doctor Strange #4 p. 2 - DS4p2 Doctor Strange #4 p. 17 Ds4p17pencils (I also own the prelim drawing for this page ) DS4p17prelim Doctor Strange #5 p. 6 - DS5p6 A hand-colored copy of the cover to Doctor Strange #6 DS6handcoloredcover A sketch of Clea #10 of 10. 9. Another stat art day. While most people could care less about stats, I find this a wonderful way to see Marvel art that either I could never afford or actually doesn't seem to be out there. Here is a stat from Journey into Mystery 108 (actually pages 4-6) with Jack Kirby and Chic Stone. The appeal to me is this page represents the second Doctor Strange cross-over ever. The first was when Thor (and Loki) had appeared in Strange Tales 123 (August 1964) and this JIM issue (Sept 1964) was the "answer" to that story. The last panel of Doctor Strange's face is especially awesome: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1177529&GSub=0&GCat=3023&UCat=3023
  10. A rare page from the DC Babylon 5 comic book series. Rare only in that it was obscure and not well liked at the time. However I am a big Babylon 5 fan and am thrilled to have it. Starfuries, Jump Gates, and Ivanova! Michael Netzer was away from drawing comics 1994-2009 so this was hard to find.
  11. Don't know how to to get image directly so here is the link to my CAF. By Alfredo Alcala, I saw it at a local comic show and borrowed money to get the $40 I needed for it. Doctor Strange 19 page 30
  12. New today! Grimjack #15 p. 20. Sorry for the incomplete scan, I still haven't mastered stitching. I love the use of ziptone, and whiteout to make the image pop. Plus Truman signed in whiteout. John Sisson
  13. Some of you have already seen this but I am a new member here. I am a Dr Strange fan and one of those elusive items is anything done by P. Craig Russell. While I have a few pieces inked by him this is my first penciled by him. It also is part of the first work he ever did on Dr. Strange. Marvel Premiere #7 page 21 http://qurls.com?i=34523
