  1. Which now means... #27 is the rarest!
  2. I know it's difficult to believe they're not facsimiles, but common sense kind of dictates that they're not. There's a #26 in the run, there's the run of Capt. Marvel and Capt marvel Jr in the same auction which obviously directly lead into the MM and YM, plus all the other lots with the same kind of comics from the same time period. I also get the thing about the cursory online search... But then if you search for MM sales on eBay then £10 each doesn't actually look wrong. Plus they estimated the lots with #1 issues in them higher, remember it takes someone actually very interested in those particular comics themselves to even know issue #25 or #26 is x1000 better than #1. I think they're real and even if I'm wrong, there's another #26 about...
  3. Tell me about it... Some of the other lots are just mind bending if you know anything at all about British comics. Didn't come up for me on saleroom or invaluable too, I only found it because one of my customers sent me a link saying I might be interested. And yeah, he'd sent the link the day before the auction... Kill me now. Looking at the prices realised you'd have to say that probably one person knew what they were bidding on and everyone else was just bidding for curiosity value. I think one person has most likely picked up a huge majority of the lots by just bidding on everything. That's what I would have done. For a couple grand outlay I think they're looking at a nice house deposit...
  4. And remember, no one ever copied the #26...
  5. I've seen the fake ones and I've had a real copy of #25. I've checked out the pictures v closely. I think they're real. Some of the other lots are also quite astonishing tbh. I've been in contact with the auction house, it was all legit. Totally genuine sale. I came across it two hours after it finished without knowing the hammer prices, when I found out later that day I was OMG! I would have bought around half of all the lots at easily double or triple the hammer prices and not blinked. But the MM and YM..... Jeeeeeez...
  6. https://www.andersonandgarland.com/Town-County-Sale-Day-1/25-10-2016?gridtype=listview Lots 180 & 181 I missed it by two hours. Check out the whole catalogue, lot of very nice British stuff So yea...
  7. Amazing achievement for Derek. This means he has now collected all 750 MM comics, Annuals, colouring books, badges etc etc Certainly the first time this has ever been done. The nearest comparison I know of is probably me with about 65% of them. Good to know there are now two copies of no.26 in existence too (is that a Gerber 9 or 10?) Further copy of #26 sold last week, along with #25 and #28-40 inclusive. Plus a further run of later numbers. £350 hammer price for the lot. Same sale had YM #25-29 and a further run of later numbers. £200 hammer price for the lot.
  8. Oh and bats totally kills people outside the dream sequence. What about all those guys in vans shooting at him when he's in the batplane at the end? He just mows them all down with gunfire and they blow up.
  9. Yeah, so just seen it... It's not AoU bad, but my gosh its not good. I can't believe during filming that they didn't realise that the Luthor in this film is dreadful. I mean flat out ridiculously awful. Even Jesse must be cringing if he sits in a cinema and watches it with a normal audience. It's far too long, with plot that really just goes nowhere. The person I saw it with fell asleep within the first hour and woke up when Wonder Woman showed up at the end. Best way to view it. Doomsday, well yea, let's just gloss over that. Ben as bats was good. Henry as supes was just like in MoS, wooden and frowns a lot. Lois I liked, as too the amazingly beautiful woman playing WW. But that's your lot, the rest was just as exercise in how to make a film that's too long, too dark, colours too muted, too much cgi, with literally NO humour like at all! I reckon they'll have to rethink the next few movies after this.... ZS won't be allowed another.
  10. To be fair the studio is asking people to watch a film from a television show that is over 50 years old that has not fared well with age. One of the guys selects this show on a regular basis to watch at our SciFi television marathon event. The show gets the most complaints as the one the crowd wants to see less of. I put this towards of how the show was made 3 formulaic parts that feels like a bad stage production. Mixed in we have a Bond film coming out and MI that is still in the theaters there was just no place to put this film in the schedule this year. The other problem is they are competing against Straight Outta Compton. We are talking about a biopic film about the godfathers of gangsta rap that did more to bridge the gap in race relations and understanding than any other person since MLK and Malcolm X. We are talking about multiple generations of people into this group and the music they inspired. After watching S.O.C. yesterday to be honest best mainstream film I have seen this year. Expect alot of nominations for this film at the Oscars. SOC is far exceeding my expectations as far as performance in the theaters. I knew the film had a chance to be the number one film in the theaters, but did not see a 50 to 60 million dollar weekend. Interesting, I'm going to see SOC on Tuesday. Looking forward to it now.
  11. Saw this today with the little lady. Quite surprised it's not got better reviews than it has, I mean it hasn't been totally trashed but both my wife and I thought it was really very good. She'd never seen the TV show and thought it was funny and had great chemistry between Cavill and Hammer, I've seen all the shows and still thought it was a good modern day update - although it's still set in the sixties. It's very obviously a Guy Ritchie film, lots of montages and quick cuts with flashbacks 'after the fact' like in the Sherlock films., plus he loves lettering onscreen. But hey I like his films. Cavill does a very good Solo and he's just sooooo annoyingly good looking it almost wants to make you spit. But yeah, really good fun film.
  12. So yeah I saw this yesterday. I actually quite liked it. It's hard to explain why tbh, but I did. I think the biggest problem people have with it is that it's not a super hero in the sense of the MCU and I do agree with that. It's just pretty much an origin film about some kids who gain powers... And well, that's it. The fight with Doom lasts about three minutes (well maybe a bit longer but that's what it felt like) so that was an anticlimax. A few things were weird and made no sense, like how did Sue even get her powers? Where did Doom get his cloak from? The government spends like a year searching for Reed and can't find him - Sue tracks him down in literally 15 seconds. The Thing spends a year pretty much just killing people. Doom's powers seem to consist of anything and everything from flight to telekinesis to just being able to murder people by looking at them which he does to loads of people yet when confronted with the Fantastic Four he just decides to throw rocks at them. The effects were quite poor by today's standards as well, Reed stretching was particularly cringe inducing. But yeah, it's not a great film by any standards but it's not as annoyingly craptacular as IM3 or 2.
  13. That's an awesome story!!! Well done on the huy! Cant wait to see pics!
  14. Just thought I'd mention, if you guys haven't seen Shaun the Sheep... Its awesome.
  15. If a 5' 10" guy can turn green and grown to 8' without losing his pants, I can swallow some holes inbetween molecules.
  16. Saw this at the weekend, Got to agree with the sentiment here... It's very good. I really liked it. Immeasurably better than AoU, and def had the sense of fun that made Iron Man 1 so good. Paul Rudd was excellent as was that girl from Lost, and I surprisingly really liked Michael Douglas as well - the de-ageing of him was exceptional!!!! Great effects with some proper laugh out loud moments, Thomas the Tank was inspired. Managed to fit in an origin, a proper villain, great action and even some family peril. Yea, well done to all involved.
  17. I totally agree wit the sentiment of that... Why remake already awesome movies? Remake some and make it good... sure. Or, yea, just like you know, make an original movie!!!!
  18. Saw the trailer for this at the weekend on the big screen. I really liked it and what bodes well is even the little lady thought it looked good... Got high hopes for this one!
  19. I loved all 3 Max movies growing up - particularly no.2 My wife has no interest in this kind of film - I have a 10 year old - would they cope? p.s. I took my 6 year old to see Avengers ultron and he asked to leave 5 mins in.... It's not a picture for a ten year old.
  20. Nah, makes no difference to your enjoyment of the picture.
  21. Saw this last night. Its not as good as everyone is raving about... But its pretty damn close!!! Totally agree that this is first and foremost a Mad Max movie, Awesome action sequences held together by a plot that kinda works within its own unique rules. Hardy is very good - i thought his first scene was his best - just crazy! He must have all of 20 lines in the whole film. Theron is OMG gorgeous and i have to say that the effect of her with a false arm is the best I've seen in any film - my wife asked me at the start if she'd actually lost her arm its that well done. That's not spoiling anything BTW, her character just has an arm missing. Its not the best total action film I've ever seen (for that I'd go with 'The Raid') - there are quite a few quiet periods, but they don't drag. But as a Mad Max film... Its really really good! Screening I was in applauded at the end... only had that about 5-6 times before.
  22. This was really interesting to see, I've only ever stood at local cons that are multiday, anything far away would only be a Saturday con. When I say far away... That's a max of 100 miles. Yeah, I'm a lightweight! Great thread!!
  23. I always thought he found his feet at #16, at that point became the BWS that he's managed to dine out on ever since. KS #1 pushes it close. Superb artist.
  24. I'd use eBay else you'll pay a ridiculous sellers premium. I wouldn't use a huge $1mil BIN though, I'd just either go for a realistically high BIN (going on advice from here, sounds like $20,000 would be a good start) but with an open to offers option. Or start it at 99c and see where it ends up. The one thing i would do though is ask for a lot of advice from here and other forums to let people know you have it and then to say you'll be putting it up for auction in a month to enable people to maybe get some ducks in a row to really make a good go for it. Then post the link to the auction and let everyone have a pop at it. Plenty of times I've seen pricey artwork on eBay go away from me because I haven't had enough time to arrange finances to really 'go for it'. Always fun to see how really rare items go!
  25. The mask was just inserted. I bought one as a kid from the newsagent off the shelf and as I picked it up the mask dropped out. Confession time.... A lot of masks were left on the shelf that must've come out of other copies, so I put them in mine. Hey! I was a kid!
