  1. 2 months is too long for a slabbed book refund and the registry excuse is no reason.

That said, an old owner can not have any say in a new owner gaining points.  If this were allowed, wouldn't terrible people sell books and then hold the points hostage for cash or other considerations?   Clearly that cant be allowed.

  2. Cross posted from the "garage and flea market finds" section:

    Oddest place to find something.....

I was on a 2 week family vacation to Scotland and then Barcelona.  On our last day in Barcelona, we came across a small antique show just off "La Rambla" and the marina.   I found this stack of books in a box full of paper.  I had to negotiate from his asking price of 50 Euros down to the 35 Euros I had in my pocket along with $5 US.  It was an awesome back and forth but no way I was leaving anything.  Almost 60 books in all.  The condition is not so great as you can see including some separated  covers, but some really cool books in there mostly from the 50s.  The 3 "Pieds Nickeles" are french from the 40s and include #1 (3rd series).    The Flash Gordon is a compilation book, also from the 50s        I will be cross posting this in the foreign book area as well.

I was thrilled with this find and the deal I got on it!

  4. went to a garage sale that advertised "5000+ comics" As you all know, that usually means a small stack of drek. Well...this time it was understated. There were books everywhere in boxes. Some actual long boxes and some just boxes that "sort of" fit books. It was a mix of modern junk with bronze. A lot of it not bagged so condition not the best. The sale started at 7am and others had been there, but there was SO much to look through and little space in the room to do it. I dont think there was anything huge in there, but i did pull a few things i thought were interesting. I am not familiar enough with modern to know it all.

He is looking to move everything but seems like too big a task. Apparently the story was someone owed him money and gave him the collection. He said he knew some about books but not too much. I may go back tomorrow to spend some real time going through everything. At .50 a book it is worth the effort.

Here is what I got for a grand total of $6

Only bought these because my wife and I watch the show...thought she would want to see them

  5. Not comic related at all, but a nice pickup from a garage sale this weekend.

Came across this framed signed print from artist Tony Bennett. Yes..."I left my heart in San Francisco" Tony Bennett. He does art under his real name Tony Benedetto and it was signed as such when issued. Apparently this one was picked up by the person I bought it from who went to a gallery where he was signing and Bennett wrote out the inscription shown to her and her husband and then signed it again as Bennett. It makes for a very cool twice signed piece from the iconic singer. Online research shows is is called "South of France" and the date from the frame shop shows it was done in 1987.

To sell it, i have some thought about unframing it so I can ship reasonably but Im not sure. I also believe the inscription could be easily erased but likely i will leave as is.

Was fun to see my wife's face as I picked it up. It was the "what the hell do you think you are doing with that" face.

  6. I have these 3 HUGE alvin and the chipmunks movie statues available. They are nicked up, but very cool figures. These were theater display pieces not available to the public. Great if you have a shop or just like cartoon memorabilia.

These are in the Miami area and are for Pickup only. They are very large and I cant ship. Here is a link to the last Ebay auction selling all 3 (Not Mine) where they went for 750.

    Ebay link to other sale

Get these 3 for just 650. PM me for info:

  7. Seller should accept the book back for a refund...its just good form BUT...

this was set up by the buyer from the start.

Hey...what is your opinion of the book grade

    I think 9.6-9.8

Ok good if its 9.6 thats fine. Make sure its 9.6.

He brings up the grade then repeats in 3 more times to be sure. If I were the seller I would have been sure to say I cant promise that..its my opinion.

When you buy a raw book you can not be disapointed to get a book that may grade .2 less than you wanted. You want a 9.6 buy a graded book. I deal mainly with sports cards and the minute a buyer asks more than once if its gem mint and are there NO flaws I always say none that I can see...NM is as best as I would ever promise. Its one thing if the item is clearly overgraded but when you are talking about 2 back cover spine lines on a raw book...should have known better for both parties
