  1. Really, this is more than just a "great" book. Tec #28 is very tough to find. It's even tougher to find unrestored. But yours is both unrestored and in high-grade. Only two unrestored copies have ever been graded higher...as I'm sure you're well aware. What a MAJOR acquisition on your part. Amazing, AMAZING, book.
  2. sure we can But then where we will vent our Pre-Robin love. I don't know. But it's good to have it back. (thumbs u
  3. You're not kidding; that's a very clean & sharp looking 3.0 if I do say so myself. What a fantastic acquisition. Congratulations. (thumbs u
  4. That is good for us now , we can get preRobins for much better prices , no more top premium insane FMV The question is, can the same be said for blue labels?
  5. I know Robin isn't exactly the most popular character in the world right now... And I know that EXP PLOD's aren't "quite" as desirable as Universals but... WOW! No mention of the Tec 33 that went for $5200? i wonder if that book has now peaked and is in a death spiral That too went for quite the bargain price IMO. Just glue and no other resto right? It's simply amazing how much a purple label effects the realized prices. Had it been a taped 4.0 Universal, I don't see any way it would have went that low. I think "death spiral" might be a bit extreme but I would say that it is "out of vogue" at the moment. I don't expect that to last forever.

  7. Looks really nice. But if I had to choose, I'd take the coverless Tec #31 now on eBay 11 times out of 10. Not that I could afford either right now though.
  8. Opinions seem to differ a lot from collector to collector on this topic. If I had to give my personal guesstimate, I'd say somewhere between 150-300.
  9. I can only begin to imagine what it must feel like to own a copy of Detective Comics #27. It's a book so legendary, so important to our hobby, that I would be thrilled beyond belief to own just a single non-Batman page. Yours is not only complete, but has its cover, and is about as sharp as any collector could ever hope for. This to me is an example of restoration gone very VERY well. It also presents so well within the CGC slab; you must be one proud owner. I don't want to sound overly cheesy, but could you describe for those of us who have yet to (and might never) own a Tec #27, what the feeling must be like to finally have the privilege to own a book of that magnitude?
  10. This thread is simply turning out some amazing books! I just cannot get over how high the grades are on your copies; congratulations.
  11. Your run is beyond impressive really. It's easy to take books for granted within the scheme of this thread (or this club if you will) because there have been so many amazing books posted. But your run is remarkable to say the least.
  12. I love your Tec #27. Even without the Bat-parts, it must be amazing to own such an incredible piece of history. Detective Comics had at least, quality back-up stories so it's not as though you have nothing of interest or value...there's some incredible stuff there. And it presents very well with the repro-cover. (thumbs u Congratulations.
  13. Fantastic cover. (thumbs u I like how this cover manages to capture the essence of the horror-themed comics while still staying true to the Cap vs. Red Skull rivalry.
  14. As corny as this may sound, I'm quite excited to see this thread up and running again. While I realize that yes this is a new(er) thread, it was getting lost for a little while and over the past few days alone, we've seen a 27, a 29, a 31, two 37's, and an entire run of 28-37. These are truly amazing books and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels privileged for having the opportunity to share in the enthusiasm that can sometimes run rampant in this thread. Thank you to all for sharing.
  15. what's the grade? Wow! Nice book Comics N-erb wow - what a #31 copy. Restored? (slight/mod/franken?) Grade? Story on acquisition? I picked up this book from a old friend for some cash and trade. We were both happy at the end. The book is moderate in resto. Tear seals to the cover but no pieces/chunks added to cover! Pieces were added to back and spine area. Paper is cream to white. Book is graded by.......some company.......other than CGC........as a 6.0 which I actually agree with. Very nice looking book! Happy to call it mine! Great pick-up on your part to say the least. Even with the resto, cannot knock a Tec #31 in any condition really. (thumbs u
  16. So do you guys have stories behind the 27 and 31?
  17. It very much counts. Thanks for sharing; this thread needed it. (thumbs u
  18. Those prices seem to be quite reasonable to me, although I'm no expert when it comes to SA DC.
  19. Pre-Robin Tec Club Census Update 27: 0 28: 4 29: 3 30: 6 31: 9 32: 4 33: 5 34: 3 35: 10 36: 6 37: 4 I did my best to account for books that were posted multiple times (individually & group-shots) as to make sure that they weren't counted twice; and I believe there was one photobucket image that was removed so I couldn't tell what issue it was.
  20. Out of curiosity, what do you guys think would be the absolute cheapest one could pick up a low-grade copy complete with a cover for?
