What is the comic?  Was it published before or after 1975?  Do you have an estimated idea of the grade(it’s condition, thus giving an idea of the fmv.)?

The comics maybe a 7? Not sure. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255567050203 You can be the judge lol It says 1986 so I'm assuming that's when it was released. And yea, things like that is what I need to know. Release date and grade effecting fees of grading? This complex mess hurts my head. I'm stupid in general but I also take meds for my epilepsy and they slow me down I swear lol

You choose a tier based on the value of the book.  Other than that, the online submission form is pretty self explanatory.  Here is a link on how to submit books.

So I'm seeing crazy high prices to get something graded. If I'm understanding this right it can cost over 150 dollars to get one comic graded depending on various factors. This is why I'm confused cause although you're giving me these links, they just lead me to places that talk about stuff they don't explain, it's like they expect you to already know a bunch of stuff going into this.

My bad -- I was just showing you two options.  Either concentration will work.  No need to use both.  And you can apply it with a piece of old cotton T-shirt, an ordinary washcloth, a paper towel, etc.  (thumbsu

What about one of those eye glass cleaning clothes? You know the super soft ones you use on your glasses and stuff

Ya I already saw that. For lack of a better term, I'm guess I'm just stupid cause I didn't understand what it meant lol It used terms and talked about stuff I didn't understand. I just wanna know how much it'll be to send in my single comic book, get it graded and have it sent back to me.

Isopropyl Alcohol works for me.  (thumbsu  No special handling precautions (no mask, gloves, etc), readily available at just about any drug or grocery store, super low cost, evaporates quickly, leaves no residue, won't damage the holder, etc.  I've also used it to remove leftover adhesive residue from those funky auction house stickers.  :foryou:

Do you apply these in any specific order? Like How do you use these specifically

If you had a vintage copy of the Yellow Pages slabbed, and the label said it had white pages, would that reduce its value?

I think the idea is wherever the title "white pages" is doesn't effect the value at all. It use to be centered on the slab back in the day, but now it's placed under the grade number. It has nothing to do with value they just switched where they placed it

Trust might be too strong a term here :)

They will take a long time, that's for sure.

There is a ton of debate on the topic, as mentioned above. One of the questions I would wonder is whether it's worth it for a comic like this. That era of comics has a lot of high grade examples, and even in the best of grades, you're looking at a bit over $100 reliably. Given its lack of rarity and its age, do you want it enough to be worth it? Are you thinking about pressing because you really dig the cover and want a clean example?  Or, are you thinking it will help the monetary value? If the latter, you might be better off saving the time and trouble and just buying a 9.6 or 9.8 already slabbed. If it's just for your own aesthetics, then yeah,CCS pressing through CGC should work. Get ready to wait, tho :)

If one day you do go and sell it, it's a common courtesy to let the buyer know it has been pressed and cleaned, since that wont be in the grader notes. Not required, just a courtesy.

Well for me I'd be worried about cleaning/pressing the older comics cause they're not nearly as strong as the modern ones. For example, pressing/cleaning World War Hulk would be a lot safer than some comic from the 80s lolz

There are some great threads on here already with suggestions so you might want to search the forum. I used Comic Doctor before, and I was really happy with the customer service and results. One thing to note about CCS pressing is there are a lot of threads about the wait time. From what I've seen it is VERY long.

Well for me it's quality over speed. Idc who's faster as long as whoever it is gets the job done right

Sorry, just realized that I mistook you for the OP. lol

Nothing wrong with buying 9.8s, but this is always worth considering:

    • A 9.8 will usually be at least twice as expensive as a 9.6.
    • Can you even tell the difference between a 9.8 and a 9.6?
    • If you couldn't tell the difference, is the price difference even worth it?

What do you mean by OP? And in regards to your three rules I pretty much 100% agree. The thing is the 9.8 preys on neurotic people like me lol Ik there's pretty much no difference visually but I want those extra points so bad regardless lol But my wallet doesn't agree so that's that

There are (way too many) people who only seem interested in buying a comic book if it has a sticker that says, "9.8".

You could have bought a couple of 9.8s instead of all these nice 6.5-9.2s that you chose to purchase. You chose wisely. :)

Ya. I noticed that the prices jump INSANELY high once you get into the last few points lol

It's actually one of the most divisive issues in the comic world!

In the hands of a true expert, neither pressing nor dry/wet cleaning is really risky. What's risky is using someone who isn't insured, so it often makes sense to entrust the press and dry clean to the grading company to cover yourself in the event of a mess-up.

So does CGC do the clean/press process? And if so, should I trust them? I mean how's their track record with that sort of thing.

  12. Does cleaning/pressing a comic do any sort of damage to the comic? I feel like it would strip away some of the original color or something. I'm no expert of course but it feels like when people try to "restore" old coins or guns by using sand paper or a wire brush and they end up destroying a lot of the value. Is the comic community like basically united on this? That cleaning and pressing can do nothing but help the comic?
