    SPAWN 221 - CGC 9.8

    Amazing Fantasy 15 homage!

Issue 220 kicked off a massive series of homage covers. I'm pretty partial to McFarlane's work, and I must say that he really knocked it out of the park with these! I can't think of a single bad homage cover in this little run of the series, and I look forward to sharing them all with you!

These are all very desirable issues.

    • Spawn 159 - $8
    • Spawn 189 - $15

    • Spawn 242 (on page 3 you have a typo and called it Spawn 241) - $70
    • Spawn 244 - $25
    • Spawn 245 - $25
    • Spawn 247 - $20
    • Spawn 248 - $25

Would you mind sharing where you got the wall mounts? Those are cool.

Sure! Red Wolf Collectibles - they're wonderful.

You can also directly email the owners (Mike and Kelly) at redwolfcomics@gmail.com - I think the custom mounts are around $40 each. I plan to buy 4 more this year with my latest CGC submissions coming back 🙏 IF ONLY they also created mounts for CGC cards...

  4. I'm a big fan of displaying my CGC Comics on my wall with a UV protected mount and would like to do something similar for my CGC cards.

Anyone have any suggestions or inspirations? I've seen a few ideas off Etsy such as 3D printed holders but curious what other innovative methods there are.

Here's my current wall setup but would like to use other walls in this room to display my newly slabbed cards.

Stupid question.  If you're dropping off books at SDCC, why not just go meet Kev and have him sign them there?  (His reps are witnesses so you can still submit for Sig Series).  That way you get to actually meet Kev too.

Appreciate you answering my question although I think you're being a bit unkind.

I joined this community last year and only submitted books once so far for Signature Series - so this is still very new to me. At the last SDCC, I was instructed to fill out submission form when dropping off the books. I assumed I had to do the same thing – get it submitted and printed so that when I drop off the books, it's easier for the CGC rep to process. The same instructions apply here on the Kevin Eastman announcement: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/11898/Kevin-Eastman-SDCC-Signing/

I just signed up for a year membership and the promotion said I get a $150 grading credit. I have my books put together to submit and im at the payment screen but it doesnt show my credit.

    How do I apply it?

It's automatically applied once they process your order. They don't charge your credit card until after they receive and process your books. Once the charge happens, they will apply the credit.

I admit, it's confusing but I understand why. There are multiple times I created a submission order but didn't actually submit comics because I wanted to change an order last-second. This way, they only apply the credits with an actual order submitted and processed.

    SPAWN 156 - MISSING

This is THE hardest Spawn book, folks. End stop.

Yes, that includes all the variants.

I'm going to go ahead and call this one nearly impossible. A 9.8 is surely out there, somewhere. But I certainly have no idea where! I spent years looking. I spent years having other people look.

Someone got cocky about finding one several years ago (I know you're reading this, and you know who you are), but he has yet to come through. STILL WAITING! :taptaptap:

I really hope that if someone finds one, they contact me first. This was the unicorn. This was the white whale that forever eluded me. This was the ONLY issue that prevented me from having a 100% run at 9.8 or above. :frustrated:

I checked the census just the other day. STILL NO 9.8s OF THIS ISSUE! Not even a 9.6!

Why? Well, for one, the paper stock on this book feels markedly different. If you look at it sideways, you'll cause a finger bend.

For another, there is a lot of black ink here.

Finally, print runs around this time hit a new low. There just aren't as many of the Tan/Hine books as there are others. The mainstream had forgotten about Spawn by this time. Honestly, I think Todd McFarlane himself had forgotten about Spawn by this time, and perhaps that's the main problem. The title had lost a solid stream of continuity as various teams took over the project.

I offered an absurd bounty for this one. But as one big name dealer told me, "I can't find you a copy if it doesn't exist."

Here is a stock photo of the cover art without the title or publication/price banners.

I'm learning so much from this thread. Thank you!

I've been searching for Spawn 156 for a while too.. finally settled with getting a 9.0 grade (got it for $82.50 - including the Buyer's Premium from MyComicShop)... If I ever see a higher quality grade, I'll be tempted to buy it too haha

Such a great and seamless transaction. Slab came in perfect condition and I look forward to purchasing from him again. Thanks again, Drew!

Is it just me, or is anyone else not seeing Spawn ANYWHERE?  Never at half price books despite being one of the hottest books of the 90s.  Never at any of the LCSs I go to occasionally, even at marked up prices.

Yes, I noticed this very quickly when I committed to complete my Spawn collection (still have 80+ issues to go) and it's difficult yet very fun to find these issues!

I had to quit Spawn like a bad habit. No interest in going back and reading them again. Not all the stories were bad, but I'm of the persuasion that Spawn is "all about the art."

That being said, I may reacquire a few of my very favorites. The problem is that I have an obsession with Golden Age books, and I feel like every dime is better spent there. At least for me.

Totally understandable. Expensive hobby either way, my friend lol As long as you're enjoying the journey!

    SPAWN 107 - CGC 9.8

Most of the 101-170 range is particularly AWESOME.

They are also some of the toughest to track down. Love this era.

    EDITED - SPawn 107.jpg

I've only read up to issue 100 in my younger days... so hearing that 101-170 is really good - I look forward to catching up on the stories!

Where do you go to re-read your Spawn comics? Comixology? Right now, I'm using that app and then I purchase digital copies from HumbleBundle. I'm definitely not going to open up my slabs lol
